Time to fire up the draft talk for 2018. Rasmus Dahlin is the early top dog, LHD already playing in the SEL with Frölunda HC. Andrei Svechnikov tore up the USHL as a 17-year old.

Quinton Hughes is pint sized, but very skill, off to Big Blue this fall and USNTDP teammate Brady Tkachuk has some buzz already too.

Figured we may as well kick this off. Dahlin looks like the early favorite for #1 overall, but that also opens him up to the perils of overscouting. It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out. Early lists have a variety of quality defensemen toward the top, but that too is also likely to change as it does every year as players rise and others stagnate.

Rasmus Dahlin isn't going to fall because of over scouting, he is that good. But early on there is far more to be excited about then 2017. A close family friend of mine should be a top 90 pick at the very least too which is exciting.

I sure liked the small sample size of dahlin. Kid can play.

Brady Tkachuk didn't overwhelm me at the U17 NTDP games I went to last year. He looked fine, though, and I'm not a scout. Cool seeing his dad at the sports bar after though.

Pleae for ****'s sake. No. Please no, unless the pick is via trade....

Don't worry, we'll assume our natural position...

Who is projected at 13? It had better be a defenceman...

Or with the introduction of Vegas, do we pick at 14?

Rasmus Dahlin, right now, is the best defensive prospect I've seen since picking up this scouting hobby in 2012.

Haven't seen a #1 d prospect like this in my time...

From spending too much time on the WHL this past year... I like Ty Smith and Jett Woo a lot

If he's better than ekblad at this point, then he's pretty good...

Yeah Dahlin is tank worthy for whatever team wants to start with a #1D as a building block.

Isn't this the year Buffalo's ping-pong balls finally bounce the right way?

Hopefully because we traded Bogo for a first at the deadline, not because we missed the post season.

And how about Andrei Svechnikov?

Edit: I see he's number 2 on that list.

I think ISS had him at #1 on their "coming in 2018" list as part of their last draft guide.

Think Merkley would be perfect for what we are building, in case for some reason we suck again this year.

But yeah, lots of good D in this draft to look forward to.
