Things being said on this board today:

“Drafting wingers in the second half of the draft doesn’t fix anything.”

Things also being said on this board today:

“Oloffson could have a good camp”
“Next year - oloffson -Eichel-Rodrigues”

...

Those don't necessarily contradict.

People saying the first one are saying that in reply to all the people wondering why we weren't drafting wingers rounds 4-7 when we've got a hole at left wing.

Olofsson was drafted in 2014. Drafting a bunch of wingers might help us get LW depth by 2022.

People aren’t talking about this year’s whole. They’re talking organizationally. You kick that can further down the road when you don’t address it now. There’s next to nothing here and next to nothing behind it close and literally nothing behind that.

With the picks made the Sabres have 4 years to focus on the Dmen they drafted. I like the idea of a firm defence foundation for a number of years now to come. No one we picked as a winger after round 2 would have made our team and helped for a number of years if ever--and next year with 2 firsts and our own second we can focus on whatever winger/s are bpa. In the meantime we get a look at a ton of young forwards--Eichel, Mittelstadt, Reinhart, Olofson, Asplund, Pu, Bailey, Baptiste, Ogelvie, Rodrigues etc to help shape what form next year's draft should be when choices have to be made within the bpa paradigm. Let's be positive-we have had a lot of negativity here (I have been part of it) but things are looking up.

Then they can go F, F, F, F next year with their 2 1sts, 2nd & 3rd on guys who actually might have a chance at helping the club down the road vs some random 4-7's who have little to no chance.

Well now when we draft wingers next year, they will be ready for 2023.

The more we ignore the situation the further it gets apart. That's why it's never good to go so heavy on one position in the draft.

And those guys would be seen breaking in in the 2020s.

I wonder who will be the gm when they do.

Lol. We took a D at 1st and 32nd, those are likely the only two guys to even sniff the NHL, the remainder of the draft was irrelevant in terms of our NHL prospect pool.

We needed D as well, we addressed that. If they pass on wingers with relevant picks next year then you can complain, but complaining about who they took after 100 is a waste of time.
