I’d take Ekblad. 3 years younger, signed cheaper, and is developing into a nice 2-way all situations #1 dman

Dougie is better offensively, but Ekblad is better defensively while also bringing solid offense from the backend

Since you asked who is better I’d say Dougie right now, but I take Elblad over him taking into account age and contract.

Ekblad but Dougie is a better defender than he gets credit for, especially on here. He’s far from a liability

Ekblad for me. Seems to be a better all around. Not that Hamilton is not great, he just seems like a Friendly giant.

What is up with this board’s obsession with “and it’s not even close?” Almost every time I see it said it’s in response to something that is indeed, actually very close.

I don’t have Jeff Douglas on team Canada this year (2022) Any Canadian fans feel the same ?

Ekblad was on his way to a possible Norris trophy nomination before his injury. He looks like he’s past his injury, and I expect him to continue to improve his numbers.

Hamilton was 4th last year and has been top 15 over the last 5 years

Ekblad play like a true #1 overall pick and he is a franchise defenseman no doubt about that. It's him and it's not close.

Let's be brutally honest here. Using Norris votes to rank dmen is one of the silliest things. Dion Phaneuf was top 10 in voting four years in a row at one point and I can tell you as a Calgary fan that he was never even close to being a top 10/15 dman in the league.
