Donut's GM Game - Discussion Thread

The game will be ran similar to a "normal GM game" where we have 30 GMs; however, because I know in reality we won't get all 30 teams filled and a couple will end up going inactive... all unselected teams and teams that go MIA (without making significant changes prior to TD) will be dispersed into Free Agency.

Any player you sign in FA is NOT tradable. Signings will come in waves (not everyone signs together).

Cap-hit will be $80M (slightly higher than IRL) and teams will only be allowed to retain a maximum of 5 salary's (not counting the ones the team already have).

Teams will compete either for the Contender Cup or Rebuilder Cup.

[fieldset="Waivers"]
  • If you'd like to place a player on waivers, post in this thread along with the player's contract information.
  • To save time and avoid confusion and complications, waivers will be "first come, first serve". Whoever puts in a claim first will get the player.
  • If you claim a player and he puts you over the cap, it will be vetoed and the said player will be put back on the waiver wire.
  • Teams will have 12 hours to claim a player off the wire before he clears.
  • GMs can only claim 3 players off waivers at a time (for example claiming 6 players at once will not count)
  • If a player clears, their cap-hit is off your books and the player heads to FA
[/fieldset]

[fieldset="Trades"]
  • Trades don't need to be sent in.
  • The league has the right to reject any trade within 24 hours of it being posted.
  • When a deal is deemed too lopsided or one sided the deal will be put on hold. The GMs involved in the deal will be asked to revise it. After which the league will hold a meeting with the GMs involved and will approve or deny the change. The role of the league office is not to make the deal fair but to make it less one sided.
  • You must post a roster full of team info before being allowed to trade
  • Any trade deemed suspicious by the league will be vetoed.
  • 3 way trades must include a breakdown on the trade.
  • Keep in mind that any deal the League thinks is outrageous can and will be vetoed, so don't pull anything stupid.
  • If a deal is vetoed, you won't be able to make the exact deal again.
  • You may only retain a max of 50% of a player's cap

NEW UPDATE

Very likely that we will start the game with only 13 GMs on board. Haven't received any new PMs in the past 24 hours.

Game will officially start tomorrow.

Teams will be announced later tonight (and this thread will open then). I received one PM today which means we're up to 14 GMs.

Teams have been announced! Game is underway.

Please note, rosters including cap-hit/cap space (not just your logo) must be posted before any trades can be made. Any deals prior to that will be vetoed and require a major rework.

There will be 2 rounds of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. We will be using IRL selections so if your team traded all your picks away, too bad.

Contending. That means players like Honka, Guryanov, Ritchie, and so on, as well as any picks we have, are available.

Players like Nichushkin and Klingberg are available for the right price, but we won't actively look to move them. Will likely require overpayment.

Main needs are defense and middle 6 wingers, as well as a goaltender. PM me if you've got any of those pieces available.

Also, question...

I'm assuming entry draft pick ownership is reset, not authentic?

Rebuilding:

Looking for picks and prospects.

Michael Frolik, Dennis Wideman and Mark Giordano are available, with salary retained for the right price. Willing to discuss anyone, but guys like Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, Hamilton, etc would be tough to pry away.

Since both teams have rosters posted...

:stars Receive:

Marc-Eduoard Vlasic (50% Retained)
Brent Burns (50% Retained)

:sharks Receive:

John Klingberg
Valeri Nichushkin
Esa Lindell
2016 1st

For housekeeping, the Flames received a 2nd round pick that could conditionally become a 1st, not the other way around. I think its safe to assume they'll get the 2nd for the purposes of this game. Both teams also have rosters posted.

Confirm.

:sharks are very happy to add a current top pairing defenseman with room to improve and the potential to do so in Klingberg. Also Nuke can fill in to our top 6 now with the potential to be a gamebreaking forward. Also Lindell strengthens our LHD for the future and also adding a first on top of this just makes this deal unable to be turned down.

We have another trade to announce!

To :blues
Logan Couture (50% retained)

To :sharks
Colton Parayko
Ty Rattie
Jordan Binnington

While giving up Couture is tough, we feel that defense wins championships. This solidifies our future D as one of the best in the league. Parayko will compliment Klingberg, Dillon, Roy, and Mueller well. Gaining a top goalie prospect and a great young winger makes this deal a great return for us.

We stil have Pavelski, Thornton, Marleau, Braun as bigger pieces. Also have Ward, Reimer, Martin, Wingels for smaller upgrades.
