I noticed that you didn't try to dispute it.
And I won’t try. I’m not going to waste my energy trying to change your mind. Just posted to let it be known that there ar epeople who disagree with your assessment that Rossi was “overmatched”

He had 2 points. Both on catch and shoot from the slot. How much offense did he create?

couldve sworn he had assists on boldys goals in the 2nd game.

either way, he played a 2 way game, was strong on the puck, drew penalties, and looked good all around. not sure where youre getting this "outplayed" idea from.

also, his game tying goal in the 2nd game with seconds to spare was from the circle. not the slot.

What i want to see is how Rossi deals with NHL checking by the likes of JEE, Greenway, Foligno, and Hartman. He will have adjustments to make to the superior skill, size, strength, and smarts, but what I want to see is will he be able to, or will he just cough up the puck when pressed.

I wouldn't be suprised to see Dewar start out the season in the NHL and Rossi sent down to Iowa for some seasoning.

I would be a bit surprised, unless they play Dewar on the wing. I would guess that they would use a guy like Cramarossa instead, unless Dewar really kills it during camp. I also think that they want Chaffee and Duhaime to get a look as bigger bodied, bottom six wingers. I like Dewar's game, but he, Shaw and Giroux are more similar than they are different. Small guys who do a lot of things ok, but don't have any one skill that stands out enough to make them viable in the NHL.

He had 3 points. 2g 1a across 2 games.

"How much offense did he create" is the sign of ignorance because both his first goal and his assist were directly from turnovers he forced. How hard is it to watch the games and not make shit up?
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

If I'm remembering things right Russo quoted Guerin as saying that if Rossi & Boldy make the team it's not to play on the fourth line but to play top 6 minutes. He said the days of that happening are long gone. So hopefully these kids get a good chance to succeed.

Edit 1: for those asking for a link/source it's from Russo's article titled: "Wild training camp roster battles: Marco Rossi, Matt Boldy impress in prospects games".

Here's the full quote for those interested:

“Those days are over that just because you’re young you have to play on the fourth line for a little while,” Guerin said of Boldy, Rossi and Beckman. “Those days are long gone. These guys are top-six players. If we want to put them in a situation to succeed, then we have to play them where they’re going to play, where they should be playing.

“So they’ll be put in a very good position.”

So we dont want goal scorers with a quick release scoring clutch goals? Maybe we can pound him into a defensive specialist who racks up assists? Joking of course but coming off a full year off there is no reason not to be a little happy about him producing against prospects. His play early on will decide his staying power. No reason to rush him or hold him back until we see how he does.

He can be as clutch as humanly possible, but In the Wild centers are expected to carry big role in defense. I don't think that will change any time soon...

Pretty sure this is why the club brought Koivu in for this season.......NOT!

Who cares? Rossi is 1C. Boldy is top 6. It's just a matter of time. We aren't lifting Lord Stanley anytime soon. I watch every game, every year. I can't wait to go middle this year, when middle has been this teams curse.

well correct me if I am wrong, but I think his defense play is one of his strengths anyway

His play should be automatically steered to a more defensive way.

If you look the Koivu's way of playing the center position to even the most defensive minded Canadan forwards (like lets say Bergeron), there is still huge difference. After the camp the only thing he will be thinking is backpedaling, since the defensive center culture is now stronger than ever. No matter how some people might hate it, it's hardcoded to this team and will limit the point production of Rossi even if he centers the Kaprizov-line.

If Rossi doesn't make the team this year he will be on an elc all the way to the end of the Wild's cap hell. That has to be on Guerin's mind. Do you play him now and risk losing him because you can't resign him or do you put him in the AHL for a year if it allows you to maybe keep him through his prime?

Guerin has him on the roster. Median time of a GM in the current NHL is well left of the year in which Rossi's ELC ends.

I'm not a Wild fan and Idk if this would be the best course of action, but just give me a Fiala - Rossi - Boldy line. At least once. That line sounds like so much fun to watch.

Rossi is practicing on the 5th line today with Beckman and Rau. I think they are gonna play the kid in Iowa. He hasn’t been given an opportunity so far right?

Like DeagleJenkins said, he has gotten some looks. That said, I wouldn't read too much into pre-season scoring and opportunities either way. Stephane Veilleux once led the Wild in scoring in the pre-season, and TJ Hensick once led the league in it.

I think we all have our fingers crossed we get to see them play together, sooner the better but it might take the kids a little time yet.
