Bowen pulled himself off TV as I understand it.

why would that be I wonder... definitely something to do with the Rogers changeover. Maybe something to do with Greg Millen... those two don't like aechother a whole lot that's for sure... would be interesting to find out why he's off of TV

I like the idea of blending the talent like they have and I've always liked George Strombowhateverlos but I hate that the CBC and Hockey Night in Canada has been pillaged and taken apart. It was awesome right up until last year. Ron MacLean was great. They should have left him to do his thing.

And this play by play guy makes more mistakes then Bob Cole. At least Mr Cole has that fantastic voice. He's always been my favorite. I thought with the blend of talent, we'd get Bob on TSN or SN.

I'll take Romanuk over Hughson every day of the week.

I also really like Mike Johnson - was a solid colour guy for TSN, he brings a lot of good insight to the broadcast. Id request Healy's voice box to be removed if that were at all possible.

As far as I'm concerned outside of Bob Cole (who is living off nostalgia rather than a well called game anymore) Sportsnet/CBC doesn't have much going for them by way of pbp.

I'll take the duos of Miller/Ferraro & Cuthbert/Noodles over all of them.

Thought Romanauk was really great last night. Though he did flub a few names here and there, he wasn't overly negative like Hughson.
Really liked his quip last night when Healy showed Kreider jumping out of a pool. Healy said I do it every day, and Romanauk said maybe from a kiddie pool.

I tune in to watch the game not to listen to who is calling the game, it changes nothing for me.

I won tickets that came with a spot on "Live at gate 5" and I got to be in the booth with Bowen and Millen for the entire game. It was a few seasons ago- overtime win against the Capitals.

Bowen was an ass to me. Never said a word to me and it was awkward. I didn't even take my seat because I wanted to stay out of the way- I just stood behind them and the statistician for the whole game.

I like him as a commentator. As an aside, Damian Cox is a plug. So full of himself- walks around with an air about him. Stellick was a nice guy and Burke was total class.

I found it interesting that Hughson was back on the west coast for just a normal game. Maybe it's a trend where Rogers actually understands that Hughson/Simpson/Healy provide often too negative of a call of any Leafs fans, and since Hughson lives in Metro Vancouver, that he'd be great for the late game.

Wonder if you'll see Romanuk stay the main Leafs PBP caller for HNIC and SN weekday games. I'd be honest, I'd be perfectly fine with that. Makes Healy a lot more bearable too :)

Romanuk is awful, but Galley isn't so bad. I guess he's more of the Senators guy.

It doesn't make sense when Sportsnet has Bob Cole calling random US games though.

I actually like Romanuk. He seems like a pretty decent down to earth guy, easy going. Not a smart-@ss or anything, doesn't make dumb comments like Hughson and he doesn't criticize the teams on the ice. I don't know if he has a voice that can add excitement to the play or raise your anxiety though. Cole was the master of that. I'll be okay with Romanuk if they stick with him - but the way this is looking, it's going to be different commentators every week. Why is that?

Look at Jays games - we have the same guys, Martinez and Tabler (I think it's Tabler?)... this has been the formula for decades - you gain a familiarity with the crew when it's the same guys calling it. It's always, always been that way with all sports not just hockey.

But Rogers walks in, and every single night it's someone else. You don't get used to anything, which makes you feel detached from the broadcast because you will never be familiar with it. And we have a pop star interviewer as the LEAD HOST of hockey night in canada.. no, not a HOCKEY guy for a HOCKEY show... but a music and movie celebrity interviewer. But thats for another topic ;)

Is this just a testing phase, to see who fits where? And then eventually the guys will settle in as the main commentators for Saturday games, or is this some kind of new bright idea they have and just rotate the guys anywhere they please? In the long run fans aren't going to like it.. but then again Rogers doesn't care what you like, right? That much is for sure.

Can we please get Bob Cole back to do some of our games already? He's in the top 10 of hockey announcers still, easily, in all of North America.
