Did they ever try Hughes and Kuoakkanen? Think he’s one of the few guys who can make plays but is good without the puck on his stick.

Called it:

It’s stupid and pointless, they’re just getting an interim coach who will do whatever, they can’t hire any upgraded replacement until the off-season since it’s an impossible solution to do well in. I don’t know if big name guys want to coach the Sabres in the toughest division without Eichel “for the foreseeable future”...Bueller... Bueller... Bueller

Maybe I’m wrong though, there are only 31 NHL HC jobs. Gallant hasn’t gotten a job since being fired January 2020.

Not that I think it's his fault, but over the last two seasons Hall's teams have won 33 of the 102 games he's played in.
Obviously it is never one players fault when his team loses and COVID went through the Sabers and it clearly affected them. They were not this bad before COVID. The problem for Hall at this point is he is probably going to have to take another one year deal this off season and I think his salary will go down.

While I returned to on my “MassMutual East is the toughest division” claim, I did flirt with Discover Central as the toughest one. Nashville is currently on a brutal stretch where they’re mostly alternating games between Carolina, Florida and Tampa. That’s a f***ing nightmare but they did manage to beat Tampa on Monday. They did beat Dallas and Columbus the last time they played them so they are getting points from the weaker teams. And Josi, Ellis, Saros, Duchene and Kunin are all out. I get it, boo hiss Hynes, and he’s not doing a particularly good job there either but it is tough situation.

Win was nice, but...

Think I may have felt more positive about the Caps game and the three Islanders games.

Playing a depleted Sabres' team it seemed like an uneven effort at best - with only Travis' line being trustworthy (and pretty much being used every other shift in the final 10 minutes).

Unless it was due to injury, don't recall seeing either Gusev or Johnsson in the final 15 minutes and seemed like the D with the exception of PK, Kulikov and Murray were careless with the puck.

Bad coaches are murder on team morale, he had to go. Firing Hynes and replacing him with Nas was a good move and getting Kruger out of the locker room was also a good move.

It is so great to get a win, especially against the worse team in the division and the league, while breaking a losing streak at home.

Go Devils

They are not wrong.

Keep in mind he gets paid 9 million dollars a year whether he is good or sucks until 2027 and he is a former 40 goal scorer and Bastien is a guy who has 10 or so points over 2 seasons and is on a trajectory to never make above league minimum, if he even sticks in the NHL.

bastian doesn’t and won’t ever have a crippling contract that hamstrings his team and prevents them from improving. he also has more points this year than skinner, which is hilarious

Youd think professional pride would play some sort of role in game even if the fans can’t see it.

No poll? Two of the stars are obvious, Subban and Kuokkanen. After that pick from Kulikov, Sharagovich, Zajac, Bastian...

Speaking of Bastian, what happened to Bratt-Hughes-Johnsson line? And get Johnsson off it. And Ruff needs to stop the Wood-Zacha-Palms monstrosity too. There’s no easy answers with Nico out, I understand the line shuffling. (Sorry the screen shot is so tiny lol)

Uhh...did you read my OP?

I said there would be no Poll because they already told us the 3 stars of the game on MSG unless you didn't see it (and have me on your ignore list or something).

So here they are again :

1st Star : Miles Wood
2nd Star : Kuokkanen
3rd Star : Big Mac

Players work their whole lives to make the NHL and win a Stanley Cup, it's their dream. Imagine you put in all that work and when your career is all said and done, you're not remembered as a great player but rather as an embarrassment and a laughingstock.

Money is great and everything but now Skinner's entire career has been reduced to a punchline. Do you think he's happy about that being his legacy after all the work he's put in? It still hurts no matter how much money you have. There are plenty of celebrities who are rich but washed up and miserable.

Yesterday's game confirms Bratt and Hughes need a PF on their line to open up some space. Bastian is temporary and not the long term solution. If San Jose is looking to rebuild I would be kicking the tires on Evander Kane. I believe he would be the perfect fit. NJ can take on the last 4 years of the contract an make the step to a playoff team.
In about 15 games we'll see if Foote can add anything to that line. Seems like he'd be a perfect fit.

I would be interested in seeing Maltsev with Hughes and Bratt.

I would be interested in seeing ANYONE but Johnsson with Hughes and Bratt, tbh.

But preferably, I would rather split those two up and put them on separate lines.

I've seen 2 goals by Miles Wood that were set up by Bratt in past games.

Maybe put Bratt with Wood?

Our three star polls don’t always jibe with the MSG ones. If I cared enough about last night’s game to pay attention I would have put one up for our first home win in forever but whatever.

And stop referring to or complaining publicly about who may or may not be ignoring you, we don’t allow discussions on who’s on who’s ignore list.

So the Polls are actually those who we believe *should* be the stars of the game?

Okay then.

Thanks for clarifying.

Next time I create a PGT, I'll be sure to include one.

It's all good.

How haven’t you noticed our stars of the game polls are to get the consensus of the forum? Why would you think what the stars announced at the game has any relevance?

LOL, did you send him a PM as well? How haven’t you noticed our stars of the game polls are to get the consensus of the forum? Why would you think what the stars announced at the game has any relevance?

I honestly didn't know.

We've lost so many times, I thought the Poll was to give us who the 3 stars of the game were in a losing effort since MSG doesn't give 3 stars in that scenario. :dunno:

I thought since we got the 3 stars, that's all that was needed.

EDIT : Btw, that first sentence @NjDevsRR , is unnecessary.

Yeah happy for them that they won, but lets be honest they barely won against the worst team in the league(?) without their #1 goalie and #1 player. I haven’t looked at the stats, but it felt like they outshot us by a lot. I thought the Devils played way better against the islanders.

Mostly I’m happy for Mac, hopefully this win gets him his confidence back before he drifts into Coryislands. Great to see Sharankuokkavich line prosper. Not happy about Hughes skating in the traffic and losing the puck at least 3 times in the game.

He seems to be doing that a lot lately.
