At times yes. I saw him play both sides in various games on various teams. He played left defense on some of the televised tune up games for the WJC and played RD with Bahl in the last WJC he played in. He's pretty versatile and Bahl is big enough and strong enough to help Smith out in that department. It would be fantastic and something of a game changer for the team if those two formed an effective pair that could eventually win at even strength against top six guys on other teams.

Hopefully someone comes to Bratt's defense. I'm skeptical that will happen in the moment though because Zacha and Nico don't seem to do that. Maybe Nico steps up. As captain it's an element I'd hope he will add.

If Bahl-Smith can be an effective 2nd pairing it adds some nice flexibility playing Ty on either side, allows us to perfectly fit either a top LHD or RHD
