Anything is possible at this point. Expect Shero to deal for who he can.

It's going to be kind of weird with Shero in charge. Every preconceived idea we had about the Devils is now essentially out the window as far as trades/contracts/etc. I pray that we shed some dead weight :glares right at Zubrus:, stop re-signing slugs (Salvador, etc), and bring in some younger guys. I'm sure signing bonuses for ELC's will be in play which is a good thing. Many changes ahead and this ought to be interesting.

Shero has his own slugs of choice, they all do.

Oh and.....Ray Shero is the Devils GM.....I'm still trying to come to grips with the fact that the Lou Era(as far as GM'ing goes) is over. Wow.

Grabner is available for cheap because of a bad year. I would not be opposed to getting him if the cost is a late pick which some appear to believe.

Absolutely, would bring some much needed speed

KHL board for talk about KHL players.

He is NJD property if he comes back. There is going to be many more rumors and stories of Kovy coming back in the next year. Not sure why we can't have our own thread to discuss when they appear.

As long as you're actually developing players and not just bringing in NHL rejects to win games.

Well its a balance. You need those NHL rejects to win in the AHL. No team is going to have 20 top notch prospects that will miss playing time because you have 28 year old journeyman. Heck Gionta was one of those guys.

That's true. But I don't think your AHL team has to be dominant for your players to develop properly. Sure, it would be nice to see Albany make the playoffs consistently, but overall I'm not that concerned with our AHL team.

I think a dominate AHL team would only help the big club. LAK had one the best AHL team the past two seasons. In 2012-13 Boston had the top team with Spooner, Krug, and Bartkowski playing for the team.

When if comes then we'll open that thread. Latest info is the man himself said he has two more years left on his SKA deal, end of story.

It also comes down to how much talent you have in the system. Outside of Boucher and Matteau most of our forward prospects aren't even in the AHL yet. I think once guys like Quenneville, Wood, Coleman, Kujawinski, Blandisi, etc. make the jump, plus whoever else we add through drafting/trades/undrafted signings, Albany should improve.

I always thought it is a good idea to create a winning environment from the bottom up. Focus on winning at every level should be a priority, I don't know how players like Darcy Zajac are still on the frickin team year after year.

Cause Lou loves the Zajac family! Not sure why Darcy and Kelly haven't been on the big club yet

You can have only so many "overagers" in the AHL.

Besides, its a nice place for kids to learn about culture. This includes how to be a winner and a professional
