The fact that they even bother having a practice when there is no game until Tuesday and we just had what was an unnecessarily long road trip is kind of weird. Why not just give everybody the Jack for two days and come back on Monday?

Especially after a weird road trip where there were two days between games in Toronto and Buffalo.

That’s gotta be a pretty boring road trip, at least this time of the year where it’s still dreadfully cold up there.

Why not just give everybody the weekend off? I’m sure they’ll have off tomorrow, but why not today also? They can practice Monday before the Tuesday game.

Nah, just finished having breakfast and I still think that was a clown statement. Captain needs to tread lightly running his mouth like that.
Would you think the same if a punchy boi had said the same thing?
This player is the problem with this team. Its so freakin clear as day to me.
I used to read this same kind of thing about Kovalchuck on the Thrashers btw. But as it turned out the real problem was that the rest of the roster sucked.

Which punchy boi in our locker room would even get interviewed after a game? If alternatively you're talking about what another team's punchy boi has to say, then idc. Above all, it's the captain of the team saying that.

Just one person, this fanbase collectively understands how important Jack is to this franchise. The lack of star power for almost a decade since Kovy's heroics in 2012 isn't lost on most of us. Do I think Jack needs to grow a little bit like say Ovechkin did in Washington to win a Cup? Yes, but blaming entirely him is foolish.

I mean, with Kovalchuk in Atlanta, it can certainly be both things - the way he played wasn't helping the team a whole lot even with all the goals he was scoring. Also the bottom of the roster wasn't very good.

Jack is just making people forget about what he looked like last season. He is going to be an absolute terror if he is ever healthy again.

Nico is a clown for saying “certain teams” in his statement last night. Guy has been on a non-playoff team for most of his career and probably on the most inconsistent Devils team in a decade. He’s still a baby. He really needs to drop the gloves before he hits 30. Every leader fights, even Travis Zajac.
This is so stupid.

How about Luke Hughes and Simon Nemec?

J Hughes #1
Nico Hischier #1
Simon Nemec #2
Luke Hughes #4

My point was this is a lot of 1st round talent stockpile. Whether it be trades or on ice performance, you either build around it or make something from it. We should have been a playoff contender this year.
He drafted them. He made right moves to have high pick. Its not the situation where he tried to compete but failed. It was the Nemec situation. And again - right decision on the draft.

We should be play off contender but injuries. They can't play better if they can't. Timo didn't play well because he couldn't, not because he didn't want to play better. Devils lost HUGE part in Hamilton, who was very good 6 on 5 player. Jack can't play as good as he was as two way player.

He’s probably learning some things playing hurt that he wouldn’t have learned playing healthy because healthy he either wouldn’t have realized a play was high risk because he could pull it off most of the time or he realized some effective plays/routes in the zone that he wouldn’t haven taken if his normal routes were available to him.

Hopefully he’s also confirming that the best version of Hughes is the one that drives to good spots of the ice and rips shots, not the one looking to pass first. I would think he is confirming that.

Hell...they should just get EVERY day off and not even have practices prior to gameday.

It's not like things will change if they did have them.

They’re just inviting memes to dunk on them now

And this supports what I just said above.

WHAT THE F*CK IS THIS SH*T?

They should ALL be skating laps after that disgrace yesterday
Who says they weren't? Do people think every practice after a loss should be the scene from Miracle? Most likely they had some kind of competition to end practice, like a lot of teams do, with the losing team doing end of practice laps.

This is right up there with getting upset they dared to have dinner after a loss.

If there was more accountability to begin with, we wouldn’t have had at least a dozen of ‘these’ losses.

Jack is pretty clearly playing injured but he needs to get off the wing asap. I’ve never seen a worse player receiving pucks on the wall on breakouts.

His inability to function on the wing during a breakout directly led to the winning goal for Buffalo last night.

A practice?

Nah, it's better to treat this immature group with equally immature emotion.

The reality is that they've probably been treated with kid gloves for the most part by this staff from Lindy until now, and the bad habits are unfortunately a component that won't be eliminated until we get to next season with a new coach.

The sooner we get to the offseason is probably for the best.
