He wants to be b on the ice and he is sitting.....he is pissed

He's a 20 year old with a combined 34 points (14 goals) in almost 100 AHL games. He made NHL money to practice with the big club and got a free trip to Detroit out of it. Only missed one Albany game to boot, so he didn't even miss much ice time.

This could not be more over dramatic. And even if he is pissed, which is ridiculous, it's totally irrelevant because he's a 20 year old! Not some dude who's been on the big club for a few seasons and getting punished in the AHL. He's a future 3rd line grinder on a team in need of top 6 scoring. Yeesh!

I agree with all that but athletes want to play. To say he is happy just because of the pay check is just dumb. The kid wants to be on the ice playing hockey. He is a competitor and wants to do just that, I would be concerned if he wasn't mad.

This board dramatizing something? Surely you jest.

I would've liked to have seen Matteau get in though. Oh well. I'm glad our forwards are getting healthy at least.

dude this is a job for these guys, if your job offered you better pay, free travel and a break from playing like 4 games in a week infront of like 1500 people for a week or two what would you do? for all we know this call up is just to help him become a better professional and observe how things go down day to day with the big club.

Lol, get over it.

If anyone is pissed, it's Boucher. Not the guy who has 1 goal in 26 AHL games and somehow earned a call up.

He SHOULDN'T be pissed. He got plenty of opportunities up with the big club.

Matteau was called up for the very first time since he was finally sent down. And unlike Boosh, he got healthy-scratched in back-to-back games for his troubles. Yeah he got "paid"(NHL paycheck) but I would think that he was looking forward to getting on the ice with the Big team and contributing....and not being jerked around like he was.

Whatever. Like NJDevs said, he'll get his shot eventually. Doesn't mean he probably was upset about what just happened(or maybe he wasn't?)....

Let's be realistic here.

None of us....Not you, not me, not anyone knows what Matteau thinks of this situation.

For all we know, he'd be cool with it or he could be pissed off. Either way, we won't know.

All I do know, is that I just find it "wrong" to bring someone up and not even use him in real gametime situations. It may have been that Lou overcompensated to cover for any additional injuries/illness that may/may not have occurred but it still looks bad to me.

bah.

how does it look bad? if he was producing more in the AHL I would understand but he's 10th in scoring on the Albany Devils.

I wonder if they'll give Hrabrenka a shot. Maybe when Zidlicky is traded.

I think that's what will happen.

Oh and I don't think players are brought up based on how much they score in the minors, Elias. Matteau, imo, is the most NHL-ready of the players from the Minors. Otherwise, they wouldn't have brought him up at all. I'm just annoyed that he didn't even get a chance to play but that time will come regardless.

I'm sure we'll see some new faces when the purge inevitably begins.

There's no way we aren't selling this year, we are so far out of contention already it's embarrassing  I suppose i should be thankful that the rest of the Metro decided to start playing well and leave us in the dust, at least now our management surely can't be deluded enough to think there's a chance of playoffs this year.

If I were calling up an AHL defensemen Burlon would be first on my list right now.
