By the way while awaiting Gelinas' news, what is Severson's injury? I know it's been listed as "ankle" but that's awfully vague and he's been out for a while - longer than usual for just a sprain unless it was a serious injury to the high ankle.

Any information appreciated.

The diagnosis was 4-5 weeks. Not sure how long ago that was... he's not skating though.

Flu is my guess too, wouldn't be opposed to a trade if you got a real asset back but if not then there's no reason not to wait for the deadline.

Sounds like our Dinosaurs are back in the line-up tonight and the kids sent back to Albany....I guess Lou is really gunning for the playoffs.

With Gelly out, does that mean that Helgeson is in (and probably will only play 5 minutes anyway)

So far Lou is 1-2 and has a tough stretch. I'm hoping they go 10-0 or as close to it, however realistically with the injuries and prior to record when does LL put the yard sale sign out?

Jagr--a 1st and a prospect
Zidlicky--2nd.
Ryder-- 3-5th. is total reasonable
Harrold--6-7th. (wishful thinking)
Bernier/Gionta could someone call on them for fourth line/depth duties?
Gomez--2nd/3rd.

drop most of those 1 round and i think the trades are accurate. theres no way jagr nets a 1st and a prospect, IMO, and gomer is way too unproven with a terrible track record. zid could be had for a 2nd possibly though?

Ghost, I don't think Jagr will net us a low first-rounder, though that would be IDEAL.

I think it's going to be a high 2nd-rounder and a mid-level prospect at best.

what was the point of calling Matteau up, exactly?

A couple of NHL paychecks lol

Seriously though the forward core is in such flux they probably thought they wanted/needed an extra body longer than they did. With the mumps AND the flu going around as well as other injuries I can't kill them for hoarding extra bodies. Unless they become carriers anyway.

If I'm Stefan, I would be pissed right now.

Eh he'll play soon enough. It'll just be later in the year after guys get traded off/IR'ed. At least he's had games up here and hasn't had to wait forever to make his first start like Kinkaid.

Why? He got to practice and travel with the team. It's not like he's tearing it up in the AHL. Lou said why he was brought up; because every day someone gets injured or sick and they wanted insurance. He brought Whitney because he's the scoring leader for Albany, and chose Matteau over Boucher because he wanted a different type of player than Whitney. Game time decision was to add scoring to the lineup, so Whitney got in over Matteau.

In the end, who really cares? :dunno:

The coaching mafia is 1-2, making Lou only .33-.66:sarcasm::laugh:

He gets to practice (they actually did:amazed:) with the NHLers. Besides, he only missed a game. Albany usually doesn't play during the week, so it's not that important that he wasn't there.
