Just the first one of the game.

I’ve been very vocal about keeping him off the ice regardless if he got lit up tonight because this is the kind of audition that could destroy a goalie that might otherwise wind up having an NHL future.

I say try Daws out after the break.

Schmid for as big as he is seemed to be playing from his knees which reminded me of Blackwood's Binghamton days.

I also felt Schmid played deep in net especially when the puck was being played in the corners behind him. Haven't you mentioned other NJD G doing that and suggesting they were coached to play that deep?

I've said this before but I can't believe Nico hasn't kicked on offensively from his rookie season. I just can't fathom why his offensive game hasn't improved. Injuries and inferior linemates is a cop out as an excuse.

I know he is a good player that brings a lot of other qualities to the team. And Nico is well down the list of problems that the Devils need to address. BUT....

I'm seriously doubting he will get 20 goals and 50 points in a season again. Nico is the next Joe Juneau. When his career is done, we will look back and his best season will be his rookie year.
He’s on a 50 point pace this year. Why wouldn’t he ever get 50 points in a season again?

Leaf fan coming in peace, kinda. Devils are my second favorite team because Hughes (ive been following him since he was 13. My nephew played with him and I took him to his games, practices often). Subban as well as I know his family. Anyway I read your game threads and watch about 70% of your games. I cant believe you have so many fans who don't have faith in Hughes yet. Youre truly lost. He has 100pt scorer written all over him. When he matures a little and gets real wingers (sorry Bratt) hes gonna challenge for Art Ross trophys) He create offense better than 95% of the league on his own, shots improving slowly and tilts the ice ever game. He's your best player almost every night. Id say not many players are the best player on their team more often than him. He oozes offense. I cant believe anyone who watches him every night doesn't see this. I question their ability to understand the game tbh.

Good evening all and hope you win the lottery. Or a least get a good pick.

I won't be responding to anyone who wants to argue. It was not my intention.

Just stop.

He and Bratt together aside from this game tonight have been more or less dynamite together.

Bratt is the only one who could keep up with him(and in other ways, surpass him) so don't give me this "real wingers" BS.

I certainly agree with you on Schmid, but that was when Melanson was here that people had criticized him for telling the goalies to play deeper in the net.

I’ve criticized that they remain too stationary on a lot of breakaways and when guys get a chance in front of the net.

They need to get another warm body. Daws and Schmid should finish the season with Utica.

They will potentially ruin both their goalie prospects making them play for this team right now.

They potentially ruined Blackwood having him play through injuries 2 seasons in a row, and most likely made Bernier's hip worse by making him play injured too

Basically. That while playing a more responsible game defensively. You can clearly see he’s playing a more defensive style. I’m sure coaching goes into it.

I'll say it again. I'm hoping one of the taxi squadder G, Grosenick, Spencer Martin, or Hammond (unless Kahkonen needs more AHL time) make it past the Habs if they are waived when teams are required to dissolve their taxi personnel the day after last game before the ASG break.

I don‘t get it. why do they use Hischier as a Travis Zajac 2.0 defensive forward? He has been playing this role for about 3 years and never looked again that good like he was in his rookie season. It seems to me that he has lost his skillset and does not even remember how to score goals. If you compare the 17/18 season to now, you can see clearly that Hischier is miles away of being the same type of player as he was in the beginning of his career.

Team seemed to struggle getting out of the D zone all night. Whiffs, off-target passes, fumbles... Just an adventure almost every time. On offense they made some nice plays when they did gain the zone, but that (second?) Powerplay was one of the worst I've seen all season. I thought Schmid deserved better and that final dagger from Severson's gaffe was the perfect coup de grâce on the night.

It doesn't matter, he's allowed EIGHTEEN GOALS on 104, maybe it's 105 shots faced in the NHL?

It's a great disservice to everyone including the player to let him play again in the NHL this year.

If Jack Campbell was our goalie tonight with his rebound control, he might've allowed 18 tonight alone.

I blame Hischier more than Severson.

Hischier should be taken off the PP. Apart from winning faceoffs, he's trash. He doesnt know what to do on PP.

How is possible to blame anyone more than Severson on that play. I mean. wtf. wtf wtfwtfwtfwytywfywhfsyahahhadhlkfjahkjaa a aaa a a a a gagguuuguguauuaguugugugugugugu

So? Just because he scores means I can't give a stoppable goal on it? Really? I'm pretty sure goalies stop 85% of his shots too.

Can I cut him a break for it? Sure.

Does that mean I can't label it stoppable? That a bias right there if I excuse certain goals because of who the shooter is. Then I can't give any kind of decent analysis.

Your stock is going down when it comes to analysis.

Another pretty decent effort ruined by stupid mistakes and turnovers. Time and again this teams manages to beat itself.

Look at the immediate play on ice prior to breakaway. Hischier tried to force a pass to Severson that got tipped / intercepted before Severson could even play the puck.

That's not to excuse Severson piss poor attempt at playing D, but if Hischier didn't f*** up a basic pass before hand, the turnover would never of happen.

wasn’t that Bratt that tried to thread the needle through 3 leafs players?

it was just a predictable loss. I’m just tired of seeing mark recchi work for this team. Hated him when he was on the Flyers, don’t see the attachment.

a better coach will work harder with him on that but at least he has his confidence in the o zone, that’s what makes him a special player.

don’t forget he’s only 20

used to watch every goal of every game, first time in my devils fan tenure that ive missed the last five games and havent had an inch of regret.

I honestly was disappointed to find out they play again tonight. There’s always more enjoyable things I could be doing, but I still tune in because “they might play well this game!”
