Rumor: Devils finalizing a trade

Market price for Backes has been set by Marleau trade to Carolina.

Boston will need to give up their first round pick to get Backes off the team.

If they want Palmieri then they are going to find another first rounder and a top prospect for Palmieri. Palms is not going to be traded for a deal any less than what Devils got for Coleman.

I think part of that trade included Marleau being bought out and being able to potential go back home to the sharks without worrying about a big cap hit.. I don't see Boston trading away a 1st or equal asset to get rid of Backes. He has 1 more year and can be retained and sent away in the off-season for probably less than a 1st. But stranger things have happened. Nobody ever really sets the market anymore.

I was thinking the same thing. It seems alot of people are interested in Wood and Severson which makes zero sense to me but I wouldn't complain if we got a decent return on both.

Good, their 1st round pick would’ve been way too high and their top prospects are good, but aren’t exactly "elite".
