I always wondered why an offensive defender wasn't on the ice when Jagr was. Mainly, i wondered why Zidlicky was never on the ice when Jagr was, it seemed like a no brainer. Jagr and Zid played together in Kladno during the lockout, so it just made sense to put them together. But i guess the coach wanted a more defensive minded defender while Jagr is on the ice.

Great to hear we had a good contigent of the Devils Nation/Army @msg last night.
But, just a few fans short of the presence the Leafs fans had in Ottawa last night.

:amazed:

They do that in every arena in Canada PLUS Buffalo. Ridiculous haha And Rag fans say they invade us hahaha They get MAYBE 30% on a good night nowadays. The Leafs get 60% maybe more in Ottawa. Truly amazing. Oh and Toronto is a couple of hours away from Ottawa, not 8 miles like MSG to the Rock...

Gelinas is tied with Torey Krug for 1st in rookie defenseman production (among defensemen with +10 games played).

Gelinas actually has more PP points, less PIMs, and averages about 2 minutes more ES per game.

When Larsson comes back, who comes out, assuming Zids is fine.
Fayne?
Merrill back to Albany?

We can't trade Merrill, Severson, Larsson nor Gelinas.

Well Harrold comes out first.

Merrill to Albany is next.

Then Fayne comes out.

And if Sal ever comes back, who knows.

There's no alternate dimension of space and time where any coach could possibly send Gelinas down to Albany. The guy is putting together a solid case for a Calder nomination, he just simply can't go down to the minor leagues. It would be the most egregious thing mankind has ever witnessed.

I think we have to trade one of those for a young top 6 forward sooner or later. Not that i want to do it but we have too many young dmen and no forwards.

We have enough other promising defensemen in the system who should have value we trade first, before we start tossing off pieces of the core.

I am just not sure if a Scarlett, Helgeson or Burlon can net us a young forward with first line potential. And we need a guy like that desperately. One way or another, Lou better starts trading some dmen for forwards very soon.

Did Jagr just call out DeBoer's system?

He called out the fact that guys like #28 ****s up 90% of the time when trying to initiate a breakout and Salvador can be thrown in their as well.

It's not a knock on Lou directly but it has been something that's been lacking for the past several years now. He's been drafting the same type of blueliners ever since Larsson and it'll pay off but it did take him forever to realize that.

We do need big strong guys that will play a more physical game but if they can't skate, they'll hurt you more then anything else in the long run and that's why you never sign those types of players to long term deals.

Doesn't make any sense to send Merrill back down either if he keeps playing this way

How many times are we going to keep sending the rookies up and ****ing down? Let the momentum keep going for once because flip flopping them all the time has not been working

Seeing how PDB has handled Fayne, it shouldn't come as a surprise if he gets scratched before Merrill gets sent down and there shouldn't be too many issues with it either

Nice we can beat the Rangers on a regular basis, now what about the rest of the league. Lou still needs to make some moves and get rid of some dead weight if he wants to make the playoffs. Definitely another scorer and I'm very interested to see what our back-end looks like when they're all healthy. Watch, they'll send Merrill down unless he gives them no choice but to remain in the line-up. Like I said beating the Rangers is fun, but doesn't impress me all that much.

You do NOT trade Gelinas, Merril or Larsson. I don't care what the return is. These are defensemen that are playing so well at the moment while their best years are far ahead of them.

I'd rather wait it out a few years through mediocrity and make other moves. This teams defense is going to be ridiculous.

Fayne is perfect for Greene and Merrill is perfect for Gelly. Trade Zid, he may have some value has a PP specialist.

His own team? Doesn't Volchenkov follow or do what DeBoer systems says to do? Are we splitting hairs?

:shakehead

guys like Volchenkov and Salvador arn't capable of doing the things that Gelly and Merrill and Larrson can do, it's that simple

half the people blaming the coach for everything don't actually know what they're talking about and the other half actually have legit concerns
