More teams wanted Bobby Butler than Petr Sykora this year, fact.

Wait, what?? All I've ever seen Barch do is throw his face at the other guy's fist. Plus, his timing is questionable for dropping the gloves.

If Kostopolous and Barch fight the same guys, Kostopolous would be leaving every fight in a stretcher. Plus, I thought Barch won the fight against Engelland (where he was also praised by DeBoer, Brodeur, and Clarkson for his timing of that fight).

The Devils just got rid of Butler, fact.

The Devils could really use Sykora's SNIPING at this point, fact.

He's a slightly better player, all-around, than Barch. Barch is a better fighter though.

Saying Barch is a better fighter doesn't speak well of Kostopoulos.

Barch is HORRID at fights.

Barch is a goon, and Kostopoulos is a bad hockey player. I'd much rather have a bad hockey player for as long as we're struggling to score.

I hate the way Barch fights. He just grabs the guy and they throw a few softies. Then Chico goes on to talk about how great of a battle it was.

Sykora said two or three teams were interested in him when he was interviewed upon joining that team overseas.

Matheiu Darche's agent also claimed a couple other teams were interested in him when he left from practicing with our team that week too though. He retired the very next week.

If Sykora gets out of his Euro contract somehow and we signed him, he'd have to clear waivers.

That ship has sailed. No use harping on it.

Yup he would be picked up before he got to us possibly.

That is also true unfortunately.

Which is why I was never too thrilled when Lou decided not to re-sign him.

Then again, who knows what Petr or his AGENT(I think it's his fault) was asking for as far as "Price" goes....

He's 34 years old, this is just an AHL/NHL depth move.

Anyone on the 4th line that isnt a goon is okay by me.

Petr seemed desperate to come back. I don't think he wanted too much. Maybe a slight raise from last year which probably wouldn't have amounted to a raise with the lockout. Then again his agent is Allen Walsh. A big mouth ass during the lockout. He didn't have much business running his mouth during the lockout either. Unfortunately he represents Patty also.

Tom Kostopoulos is actually a good hockey player. He's not going to evoke memories of Gretzky or Lemieux, but he will give you 100% on every shift. When the NHL was locked out in '04, TK was a very good AHL player for the Manchester Monarchs, averaging over a point a game, and scoring 25 goals playing with kids like Dustin Brown and Mike Cammalleri. His NHL seasons up to this past year have been remarkably consistent (9-13, 8-14, 7-15, 8-14, 8-13, 8-10.) Character guy who is always well liked by his teammates. This is a "glue" guy, and will improve your PK (sitting 22nd in the league) as well as some strong 5 on 5 play.

Hopefull he's used more than Barch then. Barch brings none of that. Only thing he brings is taking competent shifts, and he can take some punches. He can't really throw them though.

I've seen Kostopoulos play in Calgary since I follow them from time to time, he's a good 4th liner who will contribute a goal here or there from time to time. Not a bad move by Lou considering this team needs forwards (still. I feel like a broken record.)

So I imagine Matteau is the odd man out once Zubes come back. That's if we add nothing, and all the forwards are healthy (Knock on wood)

I'm very adamant about the fact that I believe we could see Harrold put on waivers if he doesn't get some playing time soon. However if he's not claimed, he will stay with us like Boulton when he was waived in season last year. It will just be a chance to see if another team picks him up to give him playing time. He won't be sent to Albany.

Though Pete said something about the lineup consisting of fresh bodies, and legs tomorrow. It's possible we see Peter Harrold for the second time this season. There's none more fresher than him right now. I don't even remember what the guy looks like anymore, nor do I remember his number.

All this is exactly why I think he's going to have a lot of fans around here.

I don't think Barch is so bad, but since he was scratched against Buffalo and we all saw the effects of that, it's good to have a guy like this to keep things honest.

Clarkson used to be that, but he's a top six forward and needs to concentrate on that job - which isn't going that great right now.

So there we go - he is a PK guy.

Thanks for the perspective.
