So last night's game was a dud. Some of it was clearly an off night for Daws, some of it was lots of puck luck for BOS, and much of it was lackluster and sloppy play by NJ and some bad coaching as well (why were the fourth line and third pair defense out against Bergeron's line multiple times?). That said, when was the last game where NJ just laid an absolute egg like this that went way beyond goaltending to all the facets of the team? Was it the NYR game or one of the games on the west Canada road trip? I don't recall as much angst after any of those games. Granted, most of the team had monkey pox or the Black Death, on the western swing and probably some residual acute elephantiasis when they played the NYR. If NJ scores a couple of cheap late garbage time goals against BOS would the game look much different than some of the other losses? If Daws played well and NJ lost 4-1 over a full game would that have made much difference?
