There goes the win streak. (sarcasm).

But it is scary how the rest of the forwards seem to contribute more when everything isn't running through Jack and Bratt.

Everything runs through them only when Jack and Bratt are on the ice.

What are the the other 3 lines' excuses when Jack and Bratt are on the bench? o_O

This is one where even someone like Amanda should be able to ask why he played 12 minutes but either they know and are playing along with whatever secret management's trying to keep or they're too stupid to actually ask the question, all two or three beat reporters we have plus Amanda.
Sometimes they do miss things that a Devils should have interest in. Great example was with a presser Ruff had during camp. Masisiak was there as well as Amanda. Ruff came out and said Wood was making no progress and it was clear to me that he would be back any time soon. I was surprised neither Cory or Amanda mentioned it in there tweets that posters live and die by. I came in here and posted it because I know what is important to a fan. Why Cory did not think that was important enough to post I have no idea. It was a week later they announced it was a long term injury but Ruff had all but done that the week before.

You spelled Blues wrong. :help:

If the Devils put up another TD(+ extra point), I would be stunned.

moreso because our Goaltender only would've given up 1 goal as much as the Devils scoring 7.

Well I'm half-stunned since our Goaltender gave up the usual FOUR goals.

The team will have to put up a Touchdown every game to guarantee victory.

BTW, a very uncharacteristic quiet night by Bratt.

Nice to see the rest of the team pick up the slack.

Bratt got bounced around all game. They really neutralized his game with physicality.

I’m impressed with how our young guys handled that one last night. Hits are obviously a subjective stat but we were something like 20-4 in hits compared to the Blues after 2. We really withstood the physicality and took it to them in that last frame.

So awesome to see Dawson see red to defend his guy and go after a guy twice his size . True heart and soul kid. He’ll be invaluable going forward for us.

Agree. If Mercer keeps improving he is definitely a player I would like the team to have enough cap space to lock up long term coming off his ELC as opposed to giving a bridge deal. Like Nico, he has that look of a player that will help the team win come playoff time.

We've played 16 games since Christmas, Bratt was held without a point in only three of them. He didn't have the best game, whatever, it happens. I'm more concerned about his health since he was clearly shaken up in the MTL game.

Ironically, two of the three games he was held pointless were games the Devils scored 7 goals in - last night vs STL, and the win vs CAR.

Same here, Bratt and Jack not getting points is gonna happen, that’s not a concern. The concern is the secondary scoring picking it up when they aren’t once in a while. They did just that tonight. Not sure I’d count Nico as secondary scoring though lol. But Rango and Boq had strong games last night.

Bratt got bounced around all game. They really neutralized his game with physicality.

Teams are starting to figure out that Jack isn't our only threat up front and the smart teams are covering and neutralizing Bratt by playing him super physical. The more time and space you give him, the better he'll look but if you take him out every chance you get, well he'll look like what he showed us yesterday more often than not.

He's still an amazing talent but he'll have to figure out a way to get past that.

*whispers* I thought the hit on Boqvist was clean.

Just a bad pass from the defenseman that was too far ahead of Boqvist, he was trying to reach for it and got caught in an awkward spot. Maybe a slightly high hit, but definitely not dirty.

Still, good on Mercer for sticking up for him.

He was literally playing injured. Your narrative that he can't play against certain teams is still bogus, he has played well against virtually everyone this year including clowning Victor Hedman. How many of these magical large teams that have the secret to stopping Jesper Bratt exist? If you try to "take out" Bratt he will blow past and embarrass you.

I don’t think he was ‘playing injured’. I believe he got hurt during the game

It was a clean hit in my eyes too and the Blues' fans have a definite complaint with how that play was called. It should have been an extra minor on Mercer in a fair assessment. And on the ensuing 4 on 4 we tied the game, whereas if they are on the power play . . . So that rotten call turned the game. (But we've been on the receiving end of a lot of bad calls too this year. And even last night, the interference called on Sevs that took our power play away at the opening of the second period was a terrible call).

Also the Blues fans can legitimately blame Binnington for their loss last night. Our go ahead goal by Nico went right through him with little excuse. And the Vesey backhander . . . if that's scored on us, I am sure that I and many other fans are bellyaching about it. And the McLeod goal in the first period too, a one on two rush the length of the ice. That's at least three questionable goals.

I never said he can't play against bigger teams. What I said is that if those bigger teams make it their goal to neutralize Bratt, he'll have the sort of game he did yesterday.

Bratt isn't Connor McDavid, relax lol. This constant overhyping of our own guys is getting out of hand, to say the least.

"Nico played a super game yesterday and was hands down our best player!", which is false. He had a sick saucer pass, a shot that went through Billington for a goal that should've never happen on a NHL caliber goalie and an empty net goal. Michael McLeod was, hands down, our best player yesterday but he's not beloved like Nico is, so he won't get the love he rightfully deserves.

Who said he's Connor McDavid? Bratt is a great skater though and has made many d-men look foolish this season, don't see how saying that is saying he's McDavid level.

Nico had a really strong game last night and imo was our best player, how is that false when he had 3 points, created chances, and was great defensively? That doesn't take away anything from McLeod's game (or even the 4th line as a whole), which was very dynamic. And if we're going with "goals that should never happen on an NHL goalie", his goal was a nice rush but a qualified NHL goalie probably stops that, especially considering Mikey sort of dropped the puck lol. Still a sick goal imo.

I mean, I think one thing we can take away from scoring 14 in the last 2 games is that if you score 5 or more goals in a game, the goalie is usually pretty bad and has bungled at least one of them. Something to remember the next time the Devils give up 5 with a guy in there. Binnington was awful.
