Also nice that we won a game where we fell behind. First time we’ve managed that this year.
Graves and Severson with over 5 minutes shorthanded each, big reason the PK was 5/5
I still can't believe we got Graves for a 2nd round pick and Maltsev. I hadn't watched much of him on the Avs but did he really elevate his play here, perhaps being traded lit a fire under him?
Im going to eventually come across as a Bratt hater lmao (only to my friends and family!)
But his two points arent how I wanted to see them; 5v5 where he controls the play, like he can do when he tries. His assist was a goal off a leg where he should have passed back to Mercer wide open, and the penalty shot well... it shouldnt have been one but we all know hes good in the shootout.
Ill say he had a good game as I didnt notice him floating and he handled the puck well; but it still wasnt to par of what I need to see from him. His rookie year was so stellar that its incredibly disappointing seeing him just now get his first points game 6; but better late than never I suppose
Ill give him second star, Bernier first and Vesey third
I didn't think the PK was all that good, Bernier was. Gave up the seam all night.Graves and Severson with over 5 minutes shorthanded each, big reason the PK was 5/5

They may not have had sustained possessions, but Nico had a nice little one on one, Tatar had a break, and Tatar also had a shot off the post(pretty sure that was 5v5).Feels right. That line didn't generate much but I don't think they ever got pinned in or gave up anything too dangerous chance wise either.

Coach speak.Ruff just said they weren't worried about matching up lines
We've literally never had a 100% healthy every day lineup. 4-2 is perfectly fine with me.All in all, 4-2 is not a bad start to the season all things considered.

Imagine typing this after a win when the guy scores the GWG. What a joke. But his two points arent how I wanted to see them; 5v5 where he controls the play, like he can do when he tries. I thought we did a much better job pressuring the puck, getting clears and actually created chances.I’m with JMac, the PK wasn’t very good.
The PK is good at keeping the puck out of dangerous spots and shots….until it isn’t. Pitts blew a bunch of good chances that on a normal night would have yielded some goals.
The PK is similar to ES where players are getting confused about when to switch from man to zone, where they’re covering, and end up protecting empty space or aggressively double teaming guys at a not advantageous time.
Guys are still developing chemistry so I’m hoping the confusion fades over time.
Yeah, and look, it took Bratt a number of games to get the monkey off his back (tonight).... Nico will be ok....
This is what Bratt has always been...regular as clockwork. Struggles for two-three weeks, gets the cattle prod up his fanny then goes on a scoring binge, then struggles again, has to get benched/yelled at, wash, rinse, repeat.
He should. I hope he will. Can Bernier play again tomorrow
And despite giving up the lead in the 1st, we actually outplayed them in the 1st. Unlike the previous 3 games. Also nice that we won a game where we fell behind. First time we’ve managed that this year.
