It's not the record that I pay attention to but how the team actually looks.
Yes the compete level will rise but I was generally not thrilled on how the team looked in all 3 zones in the games that I watched.

Some players working on specific aspects of their game.
Some players working on chemistry.
Some players don't belong.
Some players are getting acclimated to the NHL.
Some players are getting an audition for the future.
Some players are getting an audition for mid season and late season call ups.
Some players are trying to find their rhythm.
Some players are simply trying to learn a new system....and some are doing all of the above.
50% of the defense is new, 50% of the forwards are new, fractured lines and pairings, experiments and I dare anyone to make a coherent analysis of the "team" at this point.
