Except when so many guys (and in particular younger players like Wood, Butcher and Zacha) are playing below what they're expected to be, that falls on the staff too.

How so?

Is Hynes responsible for Zacha's lack of offense or Wood's lack of compete level? At what point do we start looking at the guys on the ice instead of off the ice?

Certain posters seem to think that coaches are supposed to have the solution for every problem. When are we going to realize that players are accountable for their actions as well and that coaches are there to show them the way.

hall has 27 points in 26 games! he's not our problem. schneider has started 5 games.

when all of these players are having issues, sometimes you have to question if a coach, whose job is to get the most out of his roster, is making the right decisions, pushing the right buttons and helping players reach the next level.

These guys are getting paid millions to perform... if they need a coach to pump them up as if they're pee-wee players, then get rid of those players cause obviously, they're the issue.

It's time for some of our players to man the f*** up, period.

That's what a rebuilding looks like, unfortunately for you and everyone else who's pointing the finger at Hynes for our problems.

Some didn't give him any credit last year when he took a crap team to the playoffs, gave Taylor Hall the keys to the bus and he managed to have a career year, did wonders with Wood/Butcher/Coleman/Kinkaid/etc, and the PP wasn't an issue.

Now that things aren't going our way, we're throwing him under the bus?

It can't go both ways.

The coach has been shit since the day he was hired

He deserves no credit for last year

That would work better if the dinosaur named Lou was in office. Even then he would shed the letter. If they wanted to do something they should have contacted our beat writers to try to get a statement from Shero or contacted actually called the devils offices. It is just hilarious

While this train wreck of a season may be hilarious to you, it's not to most fans

Whatever you say
The bad coaching is as obvious as the results on the ice.

I assume you didn’t think so poorly of this roster prior to the start of the season that you expected them to be blown out on a nightly basis as if they were the expansion Ottawa Senators, did you?

The “coaches aren’t the problem” crowd make it sound like you can recruit any random schlub from off the street and it wouldn’t make a difference because only the players are responsible for the performance on the ice.

Um it ain’t that simple. I don’t think the Maple Leafs arr paying Babcock millions out of charity.

We're a rebuilding team who overachieved last year, plain and simple.

We had several players with career years, we went on a terrific run where we could do no wrong and we had no expectations because everyone saw us at the bottom of the standings since day #1 because the previous year, we landed the 1st overall pick.

This year, we're living the total opposite. Several players are under performing, we can't keep a lead going into the 3rd period, expectations are higher since we came out of left field last year and made the post season.

Again, this franchise is rebuilding and anyone who thought we were going to compete for a playoff spot when making them by a single point the previous year, with all that was mentioned at the start of this post, was hoping for a semi miracle.

Coaching is absolutely critical to having young players grow and mature. As Larry Robinson once famously said if the game was that easy we wouldn't need coaches, we'd just need players.

It's possible to have both be accountable at the same time. If coaching didn't matter the 2010-11 team wouldn't have had a 40-point pace in the first half of the season and a 115-point pace in the second half of the season. And Shero wouldn't have fired Therrien for Bylsma before the Pens won the Cup.

Or you know I am talking about the state of the letter and doing such a useless thing in this day in age. They should use their brain more if they acutally want something done and are upset.

Acutally they probably just wanted those extra juicy hits on their social media by posting such a thing.

There are better ways to do this.
