Cammalleri should be healthier than missing half the season next year, but he's still pretty much a lock to miss 15-20 games.

Cammalleri is getting older as well. I wouldn't be shocked if he was more injury prone then he typically has been. Luckily we have plenty of depth at LW, though none of it is even close to the caliber of Mike.

Also we have guys like Boucher and Blandisi at LW, along with Wood coming up, potentially Zacha as well. Wouldn't mind including one of Boucher or Blandisi in a trade to bring in a higher caliber forward (perhaps one of the Edmonton guys).

He can play LW so yeah your right I suppose but he could also play at C.

True, but if Camm goes down he can slot into that spot while Rico and Zajac do the heavy lifting at C.

If Zacha is just owning it at C then we can move Rico. We have more options without making moves to cover up a Camm injury this year.

Cammalleri's injury, which I understand to be an inflamed tendon, is a bit troublesome. That seems like the kind of thing that could come back at any time.

It's a shame because he was lights out before he went down.

Question : When does the Albany Devils playoffs begin?

If I can't see the Big team participate in the NHL playoffs, at least I can see the minor-league team do so in the AHL playoffs.

answer: i dont know

although i was looking at these earlier to try and wrap my brain around who they will play….still games left…. the AHL goes by pts% not pts for ranking teams …….that said, the pacific teams (minus texas and san antonio) play a schedule with 8 less games than the rest of the league to offset the travel of california teams hence san antonio in last with more points and san diego above texas

Cammalleri being so injury prone is just another reason why we'd get squat for him in a trade.

If you think he's bringing back a 1st round pick and a good prospect, there's no way. He'll bring back maybe one or two second round picks and a question mark prospect like the Stefan Matteau of whatever org trades for him. Not to mention that we're probably retaining a decent amount of his salary too.

I'd rather hang onto him next year and lose him to the expansion draft if we have to the next year.

I never really considered trading him. But you are right, I feel he will be a great option to leave exposed to the expansion draft.

Maybe we are able to lessen Camm's work load next season in order to keep him healthy?

Want a clear indicator on how much the lack of any type of depth hurt us? In the entire league there were only 28 30 goal scorers. We had two of them. Obviously even a few other 20 goal scorers would've made a difference.

Just had a funny thought.

One of the more interesting developments at the end of last year was Paul thompson signing a two way.

Just a bit different here this year.

Am I alone in thinking that some of our left-wings can play right-wing if necessary?

it depends on the player really. if its a full on conversion to opposite wing then it will take a bit of adjustment for sure.

from personal experience playing left side D in soccer for 25 years switching over in spot duty to the right is very foreign to me. the way i face the field, take and give passes and how the turn is to force players on attack to whatever side i want.

generally ive heard its not that simple for teams to just flip players to other side wings in hockey

If anything I'd tell Blandisi and Boucher to get used to it during training. I also thought Zacha had played RW but I could be wrong. I'm all for having any of our wings able of switching sides. I think Cammalleri has played RW in the past.

I feel like this isn't a switch you make this far along in their development if they have never done it. If they have some experience even at the peewee level it might work, but if they never have done it?

I don't want to stifle kids by making them play a position they can't play.

I thought Zacha played RW too. I think he has or did when he was overseas briefly, but Sarnia used him at LW/C for the entire season.

Honestly if we have to package out one of our LWs for a top 6 RW we do it. Get someone's RW equivalent of Boosh or Blender at minimum.

Good call on the 30 goal scorers. The fact we had two out of 28 30 goal scorers in the league is a telling stat.

2 out of 28. We should not be last in offense if we have two guys hitting 30. We need bottom 6 scoring badly, and we need either Camm back or someone else to fill in for him if he can't get healthy.

Bingo. We have excess LW, excess defense, a slew of picks, and a need on the right side.

This came up a lot with Kovalchuk.

In my opinion there is no difference between wings. Been playing wing all my life and while I would say I prefer one over the other, there is nothing lost if I switch wings.

These pro hockey players can, and have, played both wings. Guaranteed.

the only thing I will say about Cammalleri being "injury prone" is that he had a legitimately serious injury this year. its not like he missed a month with a strained hamstring or something.
