I gave up on thinking that receiving this award amounts to anything when Devan Dubnyk was awarded it for essentially being a career journeyman goalie instead of Kris Letang who returned to playing after suffering a stroke.

I suppose CDS can potentially receive the award for the same reasons that Dooby got it over Letang.

Given that DeSmith's lone transgression happened 7 years ago and resulted in a disorderly conduct conviction, which resulted in a $124 fine and 12 months probation, it's probably time to let it go.

Coming back from the minors and playing like he has is worthy of the nomination.

Yeah, either he has paid for it and it is time to move on or we shouldn't have ever signed him. I don't get this attitude that it is ok for him to be on the team but we can't then treat him like any other player on the team. If it is such a black mark on him then cut his ass.
