2023 1st round pick (top 5 protected. Becomes unprotected 2024)
2024 2nd (becomes 2023 if the first becomes 2024)

Used the Schneider trade from yesteryears as a template. Demko is more proven, signed to a great contract so the cost is a little higher.

That wasn't one of the team's better trades so I'm not sure it will get a great reception here as a basis. Beyond that, wasn't Schneider traded for one first round pick that was in the teens?

I highly doubt the Devils with Demko end up with a top 5 pick but sure if it is pick becomes an unprotected 24 1st? In terms of the additional salary to balance it does look like you need another 200k. Would Haula or Wood work? if not we could take Andreas Johansson off your hands too since hes buried causing over 2M in cap penalties for this season.

Seems like I may have undersold here. Canuck fans tend to overvalue our players so I try to use history to gauge trade value. Would y'all be willing to add a 2nd as well?

You guys had world class goaltending for years until Schneider broke down. I guess it wasn't great since Schneider was basically singlehandedly keeping NJ from bottoming out in the standings. The trade was Schneider for the 9th overall pick in the 2013 draft

I believe it was pick #9, and they used it to select Horvat.

I think we need an upgrade on Blackwood, and we have defensive prospect depth and can afford to use Muk as a trade chip. The pick makes me hesitate a little, but I would lean toward taking the deal.

Can he sip Pina coladas in a lazyboy and then stop a good shot unleashed out of nowhere with no defensive help at least five times per game? If not NJ needs to pass.

Mot sure what’s worse, what you described or the Devils where you face one shot every 5 minutes but that one shot is from the slot around the hash marks with no one around the shooter, or cross ice passes to the back post for back door tap ins.
Regarding the the trade offer- hell yes. I’m sick of crap goaltending sinking us. I’d offer another prospect like Foote plus a pick if needed. Id add Foote and a third or just a second rounder. Prefer not the same year as the first rounder but if you twisted my arm, I’d do it .

Blackwood has an incredible ceiling! He was REALLY GOOD like 3-4 years ago! HE'S GOING TO BOUNCE BACK! Just give him time! It's 5 games into the season. One year after he had major injuries. He WILL bounce back. Just give him a f***ing chance.

Demko has been as bad as him this season, so not sure why we're supposed to trade for that guy. What do we need him for?

By the way, I just tried huffing gasoline for the first time today and I don't feel so good.

I imagine the breakdowns would look like the Canucks and their every game breakdowns i mentioned above the last 3-5 years. Demko usually handles them pretty well (except the 2-0 or 3-0s in OT) here so i imagine if y'all don't give up as many he should handle them even better for you guys.

I think this is a good and balanced deal on both sides. Parting with two 1sts (hoping MBw was not a 1st). Wouldnt add to that.

Are you sure about this?

Because there's a contingent of our fans that will tell you that the Canucks can't be any worse than the Devils/Ruff's system or harder on the goalies than what we play.
