I thought maybe it was a Bevell/Cable thing but they're once again looking at older/slower backs even with those two gone. Why?

It's a dumb idea really, we have guys who can succeed if the line in front of them gets shored up properly.

He only had a 7 year career but it probably felt more like 14 with the amount of carries he got in Dallas, peaking out at 392 in 2014 (jesus). They ran him into the ground so many times.

I have to admit i thought he'd stick around as an RB2 for somebody especially because of his blocking ability, but if he feels his body has nothing left to give, then more power to him. Get out of the game with your health and a fat bank account. Nothing wrong with that.
