I dont rember DeAngelo doing anything that should get him suspended. Bit of an overreaction by the NHL.

"Physical Abuse"

He forcefully removed his hands from the refs grip, because they'd skated away from the scrum but the ref still wouldn't let go. It's like he just wanted to hold hands, and Tony D ain't about that business. Three game suspension for breaking the refs heart.

The ref didn't need to keep his hands on the player there. It's like he was trying to **** him off. BS misconduct to begin with. This is just ridiculous.

Unfortunately DeAngelo has a bit of a rep and you can't get even the least bit physical with an official. It's over the top and most likely wouldn't be enforced in this manner with 99.9% of the rest of the NHL players, but it is what it is. I kindly reckon we'd best just consider this as further reinforcement for young Anthony to behave himself. Like MIG pointed out.... it's not like this will effect our playoff run.

LMAO. I'm just happy to see evidence that anyone on the roster has a pulse.
Yotes should let Wood play 3 games now
Couldn't hurt, eh? McBain and Z are the alternatives, so why not?

Nah, it looked to me like one swift movement from Tony's hands to push/slap the refs hands off of his jersey.

Yeah that ref/linesman is a little over zealous when moving DeAngelo away from the pile. Probably didn't realize he was grabbing a guy voted "most likely to not cooperate."

40.4 Automatic Suspension – Category III – Any player who […] deliberately applies physical force to an official solely for the purpose of getting free of such an official during or immediately following an altercation shall be suspended for not less than three (3) games.

Looks like suspension was text book rule enforcement. In other words, he earned it.

I love how everyone is suddenly waking up to the character issues. Yes in the past it was an issue? Has he matured? Has influence of Doan tamed his inflated ego?

The only reason we were able to acquire this talent was because of the character issues. Period. We actually paid a fairly big premium. Cue the "evidence" on character issues posts. I'll save u the time. The quote from a scout that I speak with indicated that every teammate he's ever played with despises DeAngelo. Hyperbole? Probably. That being said I was a complete ********* at 18 myself and I wasn't a hockey star. Take that for what it is.

Talent doesn't excuse the racist/homophobic comments but we have to ensure we manage his personality. We made the deal because we think we can and we desperately needed options at RD with skill. I can't highlight desperate enough especially given stone's play and contract status.

This suspension is unrelated. If I saw someone in a fight and I wanted to help I sure as hell would push the guy holding me back. This is unfortunate but not a sign of a bigger character issue.

The issue is one of self control. No more, no less, circumstances need not matter.

I'd rather the suspension happen in this manner because it is clearly a technicality rather than if he had managed to go on a verbal tear that offended the official so much they brought it up with the league.

Should he have done it? Nope. Can't touch the ref like that. Is it a huge concern to me? Nope, as I think this will help him learn where the line is and what he can't do. This isn't a case of being picked on because you have a history, this is a no-no that is defined in the rulebook.

It is a suspension by rule, if McDavid or Crosby did it, do they get 3 games? Likely not. But it's a learning experience for Tony and hopefully he thinks twice in the future (hopefully when games DO matter.)

To your earlier point, Deangelo shows a pulse. Treats every shift like it's his last in the NHL. How many Coyotes have been better than Deangelo this year?

Just minutes earlier in the game, Louie was run over while Hanzal and Stone stood by idly....give me the player with passion. Ship the other guys out.

The call was pretty petty but it indicates a disrespect to the official. Hopefully it is a wake up call for DeAngelo and he cleans up his act a little more because he is one of our best players. But it does show he has some drive.

Connauton recalled, so much for a glimpse at the future.....

This season just keeps getting better and better. If it's not Tippet sitting DeAngelo in the press box, then it's the NHL.
