Funny it took 5 years for edmonton to actually get a good player.

and rnh will suck lemons in the playoffs.

Its sad our fans want to be edmonton and not LA with horvat as kopitar and chychurn as doughty.

Demko obviously quick.

When Anze Kopitar was Bo's age he had 61 points. Bo is not anze kopitar and will never be as good. He will be a great #2 center but we are not winning cups with Bo as our #1 center and Chychurn as our #1 defenseman. Doughty and Kopitar are special players that are really hard to find.

Demko might turn into a franchise goalie, but that will take a lot of development and luck.

Jury is still out on much. Baertschi trade, Pedan trade, and the drafting thus far looks good however.

Personally I loved moving Garrison and Bieksa out for 2nd rounders as well.

Baertschi, Pedan and Bieksa trades look good.

Garrison went for less than what other comparables can get, it's blatantly a dumb move when you factor in the fact Benning replaced Garrison with Sbisa and then gave him an asinine pay raise with term that ate up most of the savings from getting rid of Sbisa, and the 2nd went to Vey which hasn't panned out too well.

We have had a couple good picks, but seriously, there's been nothing to indicate that Benning has drafted well.

Drafting: He took Virtanen over Ehlers, Nylander, and Ritchie. Consensus picks.

He wasn't able to scout Biega, in his own farm team, as being better than the likes of Weber.

Pro Scouting: Clenndenning. Sutter. Sbisa. Vey.

This guy is a farce in every aspect of his job IMO. Virtanen could become a decent player and all, but all signs pointed to Elhers at the draft and it's looking more like that now.

Amen, sister, Amen.

Moving out veterans for picks & prospects is exactly what this team needed to do. Again, reaaaaallly don't want to get into a Garrison debate again. Not sure how Bieksa for a 2nd is a 'home run' but an almost identical move a year earlier is the worst move of all time.

Moving on...

Of course you don't want to get into the Garrison debate again.

You lose. Badly.

... and the one 'good' move you refer to in Vrbata, the guy is apparently untradeable by the 2nd year of his contract.

That was still a decent move, but Vrbata's performance this year takes some of the shine off that signing.

Can you really blame Vrbata? He's a goal scorer who signed here because he wanted to play with the Sedins. Things were great the first half of season 1, but then he got moved down to Bonino's line. He still did well there as Bonino's a decent puck mover.

Then onto year 2, we ship Bonino out for a skate fast/shoot guy in Brandon Sutter who's not good at moving the puck at all, and expect Vrbata to play with him. That worked horribly, so he's spent the majority of the season playing with sophmore slumping Bo Horvat, or a collection of other mediocre players but never with a guy named Henrik.

Vrbata is a guy who you put in the right spot he can score you 30 goals. Right now coaching & management are doing the opposite, so his current totals shouldn't be a surprise. This doesn't really excuse him for mailing it in but it should have been known that he would do so if put in the position he's currently in.

Oh, I don't disagree at all.

I just think it's pretty funny that the one move the Benning supporters hold up as his best one ... is now an untradeable asset.

She did something posted in another thread, it wasn't impressive. And I'm not a HW skeptic. All she did was poorly summarize a Dallas news article.

Yeah that was not her best work. No inside scoops, just a poor analysis of a Dallas Morning News article.

I don't blame Vrbata for the lack of production compared to last year. He has no control over how he's used and what not.

I do blame Vrbata for mailing it in and giving little effort most nights. You get paid a pretty penny to play this beautiful game so maybe put some effort in. I don't care what **** linemates you get it doesn't excuse a lack of effort. To me this season just reflects poorly on Vrbata's character. When the chips are down he just gives up and pouts in the corner.
