Because he falls on his ass, the scrambled draw leads to the habs barely gaining first possession of the puck, where its immediately lost

<snip sorry, some people seem to write essays/publications... snip>

Please please please someone watch these games.

I understand what you are saying but the original (well, this current one...I think since...well, whatever) argument was that DD isn't good at PP draws... which, if true, then the rest of the team, not named Malhotra is worse...which I suppose could be true but no one would ever say Eller or Pleks sucks at FO's so saying DD sucks is contradictory. Simply put, DD is one of our best FO players.

Now that said, when it comes to DD taking PP draws, the question is, does him taking those draws benefit us? Well, I suppose if the PP system we play actually works, then maybe, but the fact that the Habs PP sucks eggs, and consequently, DD's PP production also sucks (well, so does everyone else but that's besides the point, and it's probably a hush hush talk anyhow), I would say no. Get Pleks or Eller to take those draws. Assuming Eller stays on Galch's line, and assuming that line plays on the PP, I would say let him take the draws as he is slightly better than Pleks at FO's. So say, Eller, Galch and Patches for the PP?

So...to put it more simply...DD has been better than all our other C's (not named Malhotra) at FO's draws on the PP. But since he isn't productive otherwise in the PP, he should be replaced by Pleks or Eller (who may not be as good but they are both close enough). How's that?

I wonder if anyone has been convinced to change their mind about DD after all this discussion.

I've changed my mind regarding DD. I liked DD on the Habs in the past but in the past 2 seasons I've seen how overused and one dimensional DD really is and how he's completely useless in the playoffs. He can still be a useful player if he's used in a lesser role which seems like what's gonna happen this season but we'll see.

It's not really fair to say desharnais has been better than Eller at PP FO draws because Eller hasn't gotten the chance to have a season on the power play

Then go fond those games i listed where davey had the most PP time and tell us how many of those "wins" were scrambled draws that lead to a microsecond of possession then wound up down the ice. I dont have access.

Faceoffs have been one of the areas I've paid very very close attention to over the years.
I am 100% sure that Davey is far too easily neutralized to make him effective against top faceoff guys.
Davey has an opportunity that our other centers don't get and that is part of the exploitational aspect of his usage he faces lesser opponents in the circle far more than anyone else. So it will buffer his overall numbers.
It would be idiotic to claim he doesn't win draws but people do identify certain draws as essential and as I posted previously he tends to lose more of those than he wins. I can't remark on posts made during GDT
because I only post between periods but I have found myself congratulating him when he does win a crucial draw because it is usually against a specialist.
You're so completely full of it that it's hilarious.

Even if Desharnais faced the worst opposition every game, how could you possibly tie that to faceoffs? Faceoff % has nothing to do with your overall hockey ability. My god.

To get the actual numbers, you'd actually have to find out who he won each face-off against and their faceoff %'s, etc.

Thank you we have determined DD wins draws and that indeed it has nothing to do with his over all hockey ability which falls well short of what we are going to require to win a Stanley Cup. ;)

You mean when we were handful of games away from a Cup two years ago with him on our first line and we lost our #1 goalie? Give me a break. He's absolutely fine in the middle 6.

Yeah, I do realize that. But I'm just saying it's a team game. Anything can happen in playoffs. Yes, it'd be better to have better players.. but that's always true. ;)
