The quarterfinals were amazing, the semis less so and the final was nip and tuck the whole way.

van Duijvenbode was on fire early this year until he did this during a walk on 2 months ago

Tore his knee up requiring surgery.....still won the match. LOL

hugely entertaining match in New Zealand. Most tournaments are in Europe and the fans got behind the Australian and it led to a great match with the Brit totally losing his cool

The Grand Slam of Darts are underway, one of the few tournaments where top women play alongside men. After all, there is no reason a woman can't be the best dart player in the world.

In round 1, 19-year old current World's Woman Champion Beau Greaves was matched up against World Match Play Champion and world #6 Nathal Aspinall, and it was quite a match

Today, she faced German Darts Champion Ricardo Pietreczko........the crowd was clearly behind Greaves

In addition, American Stowe Buntz has come from nowhere to qualify and in round 1 played multiple time World Champ Peter Wright. Ooof.

1/2 of the bracket is done and defending Champ Michael Smith is out. James Wade took him out and here are the group finalists:

A)Wade-Ratajski
B)Rock-Dobey, who beat Johnny Clayton in a winner take all
C)Humphries-Anderson
D)Price-Searle.......who closed out his match in style.

Wade and Rock won, rather as expected but old man Anderson had a flash of brilliance to beat the tournament favorite Price. Humphries and Searle had a great match

Today, the American out of nowhere, Stowe Buntz takes on Andrew Gilding along with
Noppert-Bunting
MVG-Heta
Aspinall-Cross

I'll take Buntz/Noppert/MVG/Cross

Buntz became the 1st American to make the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam with a rather easy win. Bunting had an easy win and MVG was awful against Heta who will play Cross who beat Aspinall 10-8 in the closest match of the day.

The quarters start today with

Rock-Wade
Humphries-Anderson

If you add Rock and Humphries ages together (50) they would be younger than Gary Anderson at 53, who makes 40 year old James Wade seem young as well. I'll pick Wade and Humphries. The crowd will be very much behind Wade and Anderson, we will see if they younger players do well as the "bad guy"

Just 3 matches today:

The lone American, Stowe Buntz kicks it off. If he can win his 1st round match, he will face #1 seed Michael Smith in the 2nd round.

There is a 16 year old from Britain named Luke Littler who is called the best youngster ever.

Here is his 1st round match in the World Darts Championship. Wow.

Littler looks old enough to have a kid in college
