Pens are a formidable opponent. Sid vs. Ovi will be an awesome matchup. Roster comparison time!

Line 1: Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis vs. Ovi-Backstrom-Flash. Sure, Crosby is better than Backstrom, but Nick is a very good player in his own right. Ovi is worlds better than Kunitz, and Flash led his team in points last year. This really isn't close IMO.

EDGE - Caps

Line 2: Kennedy-Malkin-Zajac vs. Brouwer-Weiss-Simmonds. Malkin gives the Pens the edgee here, but it is very close.

EDGE - Pens

Line 3: Glencross-Arnott-Smyth vs. Sykora-Kelly-Dubi. Do I even have to say anything? Caps are better at all three positions.

EDGE - Caps

Line 4: Cooke-Adams-Tedenby vs. Dorsett-Beagle-Perreault. Caps have two great grinders and a guy who scored 30 points in about 60 games last year. The Pend have a decent grinder, a cheapshotter who can play a little hockey, and a decent young player. I'll call it a draw.

EDGE - Draw.

D pairing 1: Martin-Orpik vs. Carlson-Alzner. This isn't even close. Did you see Carlzner is these past playoffs?

EDGE - Caps

D pairing 2: Whitney-Niskanen vs. Scuderi-Timonen. The youth of our 1st pair is offset by the experience of our 2nd. Scuderi was the #2 D on the team that just won the cup, and Kimmo is a great veteran puck-mover. Whitney-Niskanen is a respectable 2nd pairing, but it doesn't compare.

EDGE - Caps

D pairing 3: Smith-Butler vs. Stuart Erksine. We have 2 #4/#5 D, they have 2 #6D.

EDGE - Caps

Goalie - Fluery choked horribly this year. He is a good goalie, but Kipper playing with a good team in front of him is a force to be reckonded with.

EDGE - Caps

Final: Caps 6, Pens 1, 1 Draw.

First we thank everyone who voted for us in the first round, much appreciated.

This next round is going to be a bit tougher, but like I said for the first round we feel we have a cup championship caliber team. We are up against a strong team in the Los Angeles Kings.

We feel our lines not only match up strong against their lines we feel we have the squad to out work and be able to create many scoring chances.

Our defense is going to be huge for us this game as the Kings are known to to be a high scoring team, we feel they will be very irritated with our defensive core and leading out to our offense to capitalize on that.

Our goaltending is solid we feel especially to twisting the opening series by a decent margin. Our defense will make our goalies jobs a lot easier.

We like to wish the LA Kings the best of luck and good series as well.

I probably, no not probably, I know I have a deeper roster than Philadelphia could ever imagine. My D combines fast moving offensive guys with hard hitters. My team has what it takes to go the distance. PLEASE DONT VOTE FOR NAMES IN REAL LIFE MY TEAM WOULD RAIL PHILLY UP THE ASS. THEIR D IS A COLLECTION OF BOTTOM PAIRINGS AND BACKSTROM IS WORSE THAN BRODEUR AND BEHIND THAT D BACKSTROM WILL BE PEPPERED

I think that's the first time I have ever swept someone. Good series to Minny, that team will be a monster in a few years.

Up next, the Dallas Stars! A very highly skilled offensive team. They have 3 lines that are dangerous and can all score. They have a mobile defense with lots of puck movers. They have Evgeni Nabokov and Devyn Dubnyk manning the cage.

I think we have the forward depth to match theirs as we have 3 strong centers who match up well against most teams. I think our defense will be too punishing on their forwards, and our bottom 2 lines will be a nightmare for their defense. Ryan Miller gives us an advantage against almost everyone in the NHL.

This team as a lot of depth to run through the playoffs. The forward depth and defense depth will make Nabokov the goalie he was TWO seasons back. There are no weaknesses on this team. Toughness and skill will beat the competition also my players are winners who have the drive to win during the season and playoffs.

Also good luck to the Avalanche

Yes, our D isnt the best. but that combined with our Forwards who is IMO the deepest in the league will be a really good team.

Kessel = Neal, Kopitar > Elias , Tanguay < Kovalchuk = almost the same line actually, draw.
Landy > Cole, Duchene > Deshardians, Briere = Purcell, here we win. Landy + Duch is 2 of the NHLs next superstars. Landy won rookie of the year. Duchene had a bad year, but we know that he can do the little extra magic if it needs, and now it does. Briere has more SC games than purcell, he produce, just like purcell, but i want Briere Leadership over Purcells.

Penner = Zubrus, Johansson > Brodziak, Stempniak > Dágostini. Here we win to. With fast C in Johansson, and great body wing in Penner, we have Stempniak that could score.

Fedotenko > Brunette, Talbot > Goc, Prust > Neil: Here is our enforcer line. This one will smahs their 1st line in to small pieces.

On the D He is the total winner, not gonna lie about it. But we think with our OFfencive we can win this!

On the goalie its the same. Backstrom is a really good Goalie and so is Brodeur

Good luck NJ DEV.

Being a Pens fan, it sucks to say this but I think Washington has the edge.
The only reason being you traded Letang, an elite defenseman and brought no other #1 d back. And you traded a 40 goal scoring winger in Neal and got no one of that kind of scoring back. You made a very good team but those two things I think give the edge to Washington however its still close because Crosby and Malkin are game breakers and they can change it if needed.

And finally one last thing, Fleury > Kipper.

Same basic post, I'm a diehard Pens fan, but the team got worse and slower. I'm not really awarding points for playing Zajac out of position. Nor would Arnott or Smyth be fast enough to keep up with the Washington lineup as a shutdown line of any sort or whatever that lines is designed to be (besides big and very, very slow). They don't have a #1 puck-mover on the team and that crippled them in real life and it's something the Pens have always prided themselves on having in some way, shape or form historically. I'm not gaga over Washington, but this is one of those rare instances where Washington would get the better of Pittsburgh in an important spot...in fact, it's a rare playoff series win for Washington as a franchise (just guessing, they might have 12 or 13 in 40 some years?)

Dat bottom six :yo:

Got a request to do a write up on Calgary, so I'll oblige.

There's some size and youth in this lineup but I'm concerned by the amount of centers playing out of position on this team. Cammalleri as a top-line center isn't as palatable to me as a top-line left wing. I don't understand how this team is going to score. They can't move the puck at all. The top-pairing is more defensive-minded and while I assume Ballard would get top power play time, he's not good enough to make up for Schultz's lack of skill and skating. I don't care much for the defensive depth of this team. What do they have, a #2 and a 4/5 (maybe 2 of them?), and then...?

Having Bouma and Cervenka as extra forwards is fine in a vacuum. Not sure why Cervenka would come half way across the world to be scratched for John Madden who is 3 years past his expiry date. Or to watch a clear third line center masquerading as a #2 with two kids that really need a playmaking center (Sutter is not that at all). I like Irving's upside, but this year he's nothing more than a backup and honestly, I've never been impressed with Neuvirth, who is at best an average starter.

I like the youth, I love Schwartz, I love Tarasenko, Bjugstad is as big as a house. Those guys have a nice upside, Scandella is a well-kept secret to be a defensive top-4 guy soon, if not now. But it needs some serious re-tooling. Sutter should be a #3 center on a contender. The team should have above average penalty killing but I'm not sure who will quarterback this power play or lug the puck really in any situation. I can't figure out how the forwards will score consistently, I can't figure out how the defense will keep pucks out of the net consistently and their goaltending doesn't give them a big enough advantage to offset it.

Just my opinion, grains of salt are on the house.
