CHL Import Draft has started.

I wouldn't count on any Dallas player getting selected. Someone mentioned Miro Karjalainen is a possibility ... but I think the news that he signed three years with HIFK probably makes that unlikely.

John Nyberg seems to have a good think going in Frolunda.

Matej Paulovic based on his epic failure with the Petes and so-so performance in the USHL is probably a longshot.

This guy was just taken 1st overall ... this seems very, very dumb to do:

Allan Walsh ‏@walsha

Sarnia was advised that Pavel Zacha has a professional contract in Czech Republic for 2 more years and has no interest in playing for them.

Sarnia needed to do something bold since they've been mired in mediocrity forever

There's bold and there's dumb I would say.

Even though I don't believe it's special to draft a Russian ... there's bold like Dallas and taking Nichushkin 10 overall. I call that smart hockey ... but apparently that's bold to some.

Dumb is taking a guy that has no interest in playing for you ... and you've been flat out told that. I'll admit I really don't like the agent. Walsh is an aggressive tool, and this smear campaign right now is down right pathetic and unprofessional.

... I hope they have a plan to flip him elsewhere for something else. I hope Walsh is a lying tool about the 2 year contract in the Czech Republic ... otherwise that makes this even more ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure Matej Stransky's little brother was just drafted by Prince Albert. Off the top of my head ... same home city and previous Czech team.

I've had to unfollow him. He's an arrogant ***** from everything I've noticed.

Same here ... couldn't take him during the lockout. He's getting RT'ed like crazy because he's making an ass of himself.

I hate that he seems to be 100% correct that. Not saying justified to act this way ... just correct that it's kind of silly to take a player that has a pro contract for 2 years over in Europe.

I really, really hope he's just making an ass of himself to force a trade. That way he'll look more like a lying, dirty ass ... and then Sarnia might get a good return.

Niklas Hansson (Sweden) will join Honka and Makela (Finland) in Lake Placid this summer as the USA hosts a U-20 preparation camp. I think this is the third or fourth year. Really love this thing.

Thought he was a lock ... glad he is making the trip.

Simon (IIRC) is Matej's brother's name.

Yeah I confirmed a bit ago it's him.

We can start the brother conversation up for the 2016 draft now.

oh, missed that one. But yeah, 2016 draft eligible. Missed out on the younger Ritchie so maybe that fix it

Seems a lot smaller than Matej, tho expect him to grow still. He was very good, one of the top guys in Czech u18 league this season.

I think you're going to be one of my favorite posters this year. Probably going to be relying on you for some updates on four defenders this you.

I do hope Honka ends up with JYP or someone this year.

Thank you!

Yeah I'm hoping for that too. Would allow me to see Honka live next season. Would be superb!
Also following up on Karjalainen will also be easier since he moved up to u20 league. I expect him to take big steps forward this season.

It's not all that common for a team to take 2 players in the CHL Import draft, but that's what Swift Current did.

Their other Finn goalie is a '93 birth. His WHL career is over, and Honka could potentially be headed back to Finland.

Just my opinion, but they're clearly preparing for two open import spots. Probably just due diligence, but I really think Honka ultimately returns.

No Stars picks in the Import draft this year.

When is the development camp? I need some kind off Stars fix soon now that the draft and most of the FA is over.

Dmitry Sinitsyn will attend Dallas' prospect camp next week, and Regina is patiently waiting trying to figure out what Dallas will do with him.

Regina wants him back where he could ultimately be one of their top defenders. At first, I'd say that makes the most sense. Nill's wishes with Honka got me thinking though. If they could find him a landing spot in Finland or Sweden, wouldn't that also be a big step up in competition for him? For the same reason they want Honka to get prepared for men, it seems like that would possibly make sense for Sinitsyn.

I think he ultimately plays for Regina next year, and there's likely little chances he's in the AHL or ECHL.

When does the consensus expect Jamie Oleksiak to be in the NHL?

You're not going to get a consensus.

Jim is prepared to give him a shot right now.

Dallas' 4 locks are Benn, Daley, Dillon, and Goligoski.

He's going to allow Connauton, Gonchar, Jokipakka, Klingberg, Nemeth, and Oleksiak compete for the final spots. Nemeth is a virtual lock IMO, and Gonchar could be gone if they can trade him. They need to clear cap space.
