+2017 3rd Overall Pick
+2017 2nd Round Pick (39th Overall)

:stars
+Tyson Barrie
+2017 4th Round Pick (94th Overall)/2018 3rd Round Pick [Avs do not own a 2017 3rd Round Pick]

The Stars get an established top 4 defenseman that has shown he is capable of putting 50+ points on the Avs and is a good PP QB.

The Avs get another high draft pick to keep building up their prospect pool and advance their rebuild.

Exchange of picks is to even out getting an established player for a draft pick.

I really don't see Dallas needing Barrie.

Them jumping us was basically worst case. They need the exact same things we do and are in our division..

Value is close enough but I think this doesn't make much sense for the Stars and not really all that much for the Avs either unless they already have something lined up for Duchene or Landeskog as well...

Barrie's game works on both sides. While he shoots RH, he can play LD.

Has he ever played LD on the Avs?

Regardless, I don't see why Stars do this. Barrie isn't the type of defenseman they should be targeting and the value isn't great for them.

He plays LD with Johnson when the Avs desperately need a goal.

Dallas has a better Barrie in Klingberg and a you Barrie in the making in Honka. He is beyond redundant in Dallas

I'd hate to face Tyson 6 times a year with that team around him. He'd start putting up video game #s if they just let him loose; easily see him in the 60s with that kind of a PP to leech points off of.

I can't imagine Barrie and the 4th rounder bringing back the 3rd overall on it's own. This deal looks more than a little one-sided.

Even more than handedness, the issue here is style of play. Barrie is too much like Klingberg, and Klingberg is both better and cheaper.

I will say that having both would be an embarrassment of riches in terms of offense from D and the PP with both could/should be lethal.
