With 2 assists today he now has 14 pts in 16 AHL games. If his offense can translate to the next level he can at least be a good PP option, for now he's looking good though

It's wide open for him to take over in Winnipeg as the primary puck mover. I don't see who else is there.

After more good play in the AHL, the Jets called him up earlier this week...only to sit him for at least 2 games while Kyle Capobianco plays.

As a Heinola keeper league owner, this is getting to be infuriating. Either trade him (or another D) or play him. All we hear all the time is teams are dying to trade for D. Well the Jets have plenty and nothing ever seems to change (they even waived Kovacevic who is definitely a NHLer as he has shown in MTL).

Ever thought he just isn’t good enough yet? He isn’t super fast.

Kids development has been a little odd. Somehow made the Jets after being drafted and has played parts of 4 seasons already but isnt a full timeNHLer yet...Easy to forget how young he is too.

So bummed. A lot of Jets fans have named him as the best D during this preseason. Showing what a lot of his Finnish fans already witnessed. Sucks...

Heinola was having a really good camp it seems and then tonight he seemingly injured his ankle (on a play where Brannstrom of all people hit him in the corner) and Bowness confirmed it's not a short-term injury. Brutal.
Worst part is it wasn't even much of a hit. I think his skate caught a rut in the ice and it caused him to bend like that.

Finally, next fall, the Jets have to either put him on their team or lose him on waivers. I am guessing Dillon walks and Heinola is a regular.

Remember exactly this in the WJC's a couple of years ago. Him and Niemelä was something else and Heinola was even a tier above. Better than Byram and Drysdale imho. Ice cold and calm with the puck and so elegant. This guy deserves to have some luck and succeed in the NHL. Was never the the most intense D or anything special in his own zone but in the offense one of the most talented ones from Finland I've seen with high IQ. He can be a distributor if his skating is good enough.
