So much for 8 defenseman. Do they go with 7? bring somebody else up? Trade? or just making room for a transaction down the road.

Maybe Stan read Q's comments that he was going to carry 8 dmen and decided to sass him.

he makes $3m+. How do we fit that?

Trade Rozy + Morin + prospect to get Petry and have Oilers retain 25% by making it a decent prospect (McNeill/Clendening type)

Get around Rozy modified NTC by threatening to put him on waivers (Wouldn't have choice of NHL team who picks him or risks being sent down to Minors as well)

Call up Danault/Ross/Whoever up front and go with this D

Keith-Seabrook
Hjalmarsson-Petry
Oduya-TVR
(Rundblad)

That would be fantastic, although Morin hasn't helped his trade value with his early play.

Per cap geek, Hawks would have room to call up Brennan, Brisebois, Dahlbeck, Fournier, or Svedberg on D.

Eta: Forgot Clendeing. He's just under the cap barely.

So basically Clendening or Dahleck. Doubt that's what happening.

Probably just a move to free up some room at the TD. According to capgeek, without sending Cumiskey down we are at 770k open space at the deadline. With sending him down, I would think that jumps to around 1.5mil or so.

Could get a decent Dman for around that price.

If we don't bring up any other dman, then this is a sign that Hammer and Oduya will remain split up for the foreseeable future.

TVR, Rundblad, and Rosie are all RHDs, and wouldn't work well with each other.

The Hawks weakest link is on defense and needs to be corrected soon. Rundblad and Oduya together is not cutting it. Oduya needs to be with Hammy but then they would have to pair two rookies together which would be a recipe for disaster. Either they have to split up Keith and Seabrook or go after a decent 5/6 defenseman.

We haven't even seen Roszival with either of those 2 to draw that conclusion, but on paper, I agree.

I think Q has a pretty good rotation going right now while the young guys get acclimated.

Keith Seabs
Hjalmarsson TVR
Oduya Roszival

Basically going:
Keith pair
Swedes
Keith pair
Hjalmarsson/TVR
Oduya Rozi

Rinse and repeat. Should come out to around 25 min for Keith and Seabs, 23 or so for Oduya, Hjalmarsson. 12 for Rozi, TVR.

They could bring down Keiths minutes right now, but I am OK with both him and Seabs hovering around 25 providing they are playing well.

Keith played what, 28mins+ in 2010, and shows no signs of slowing down.

Duncan Keith can play as many minutes as he's given this early in the season. If it's game 65 and he's playing 28, I'll be concerned.

Keith has gotten a cake walk in the last few years. His PT QOC and zone starts were cupcake quality for a top pairing D, he's gotten 2nd pair type minutes when it hasn't really been necessary.

Agreed. I'm picturing one of these guys with a Hawks SC ring right now. ;)

I think they'll bring up a forward. Probably Regin.

I looked at Cumiskey as an insurance in case TvR falters. Now they know he doesn't look completely out of place, Cumiskey wasn't needed.

I know it won't be much of a player, but certainly we can find a solid depth guy with that cap hit.

Michael Stone - 1.2
David Schlemko - 1.275
Tim Gleason - 1.2
Nick Schultz - 1.25
Eric Gryba - 1.2
Mike Weber - 1.5

Not ideal, but would be could be good fillers if we ran into an injury to one of our top 6.

If its a deadline deal isn't the salary prorated?
