And if you were actually following the start of this particular branch of the conversation, you would know that OV is actually 2 goals ahead of what he was at at the same time last season.
So yeah, he actually is at his normal level.

Sure, if you ignore two of the last four times he has scored 50 or won the Richard when he slowed down in the 2nd half which if you were actually reading posts in the conversation was pointed out.

Yeah 84 point Crosby was similar to Lemieux last season :laugh::laugh:

3 extra points sure makes up for a difference of 25 goals

I'm talking in general. Brett Hull scored more goals in a single season then Lemieux ever did, he clearly must be the better player right?

As you so eloquently put it, Goals>>>Assists

Goals help your team more than assists how? I agree that Ovechkin was better last year (he played an excellent two-way game) but I hate this idea of goals > assists.

I also hate when people demean assists but there's really no way you can actually argue that 1 assist is worth the same as 1 goal for the simple reason that for every 1 goal scored there is up to 2 assists granted.

I think 1 assist is equivalent to anywhere from 0.66-0.75 goals.

For as bad as Crosby has been struggling there are 3 other elite centers with underwhelming stat lines that I do not hear mentioned on here:

Stamkos- 39gp 16g 13a 29p
Tavares- 37gp 15g 14a 29p
Toews- 40gp 13g 12a 25p

Doesn't make Sid's slump seem so bad seeing those numbers as well.

I disagree with that, 60 assits helps your team score more goals than 55 goals.

Giroux as well. Kind of proves Crosby really is the best player in the world. The haters prove it by their discontent in Crosby's performance. He has the crappiest season ever and is even with those guys above.

Unfortunately for great players, people's memories are very short. Your whole career is based on your current season.

Absolutely not true. You could have 2 guys on the same team that both have 60 assists but that doesn't mean that's 120 goals.
2 guys score 55, that most certainly is 110 goals.

For every goal scored, you have 2 chances to get an assist.
You either scored the goal or you didn't.
There's a reason why the assists record is 163 while the goal record is only 92.

Most people tend to agree with about 80% the value of a goal.

Let me put it another way...how many players in history have had 60 assists?
How many have had 55 goals?
That answer should be all you need to know.
