Where's Stanislav Lascek lol? Will he be ignored for a second time?
A better question would be where's Jordan LaVallee. He has all the ingredients
to be an NHL player. The big thing is what is the story behind his sudden
development.I think for sure someone will pick Lascek but they will probably
wait for after the 3rd round. This list should cover mostly to the 3rd round.

LaVallee was bypassed in the draft last year wasn't he?

Yes, the same as Lascek, that is exactly what I'm referring to.These guy's were
bypassed last year and have been among the league leaders this year and
producing and playing better than many early round picks.

What happened to Devereaux Heshmatpour, seems like a year ago (or maybe more) people were touting him as a 6-6 Bouwmeester (who might not be as tall but definitely competes with Devereaux in the "hard to spell" category), projections had him fighting Crosby for 1st overall. How's he played so far does anyone know?

What about goaltender Matthew Spezza, any relation to Jason?
Devereaux Heshmatpour being rated as fighting for 1st with Crosby? Are you sure wherever you heard that it wasn't sarcasm? Heshmatpour might be a 1st round pick based solely on size, but his talent level would rank him around 5th round. The guy's big. And that's all that's special about him.

If you're going to watch a Kitchener game, keep an eye on Jakub Kindl who has been greatly undervalued on this list. IMO, Kindl is a top 10, maybe top 5 pick in this draft class.

EDIT: Heshmatpour was traded to the Generals yesterday.

OSHAWA - November 16th, 2004 - The Oshawa Generals announced today that they have acquired 18-year-old goalie, Carlo DiRienzo and 17-year-old defenceman, Devereaux Heshmatpour from the Kitchener Rangers in exchange for 19-year-old goalie, Dan Turple and Saginaw's 5th round draft choice in 2005.

The reason Lavallee and Lascek arent on the list is because they went undrafted last year.

CSB ONLY ranks 1st year eligible players.

Not true. Several of the CHL goaltenders were passed over last year or didn't opt in(Dakers, Slade, Guadagnolo) and most of the NCAA guys are 85s or 86s. Lavallee and Lascek are perfectly eligible to be on these lists.

They may have opted out.

All i know is that CSB doesnt rank guys who were legitamtly passed over by all 30 teams 9 times each.

If the player opted out that is the difference.

In the NCAA list, there are a bunch of guys born between Jan 1/85 and Sept 15/85. These guys could have opted out of the 2003 draft, but they were absolutely, positively eligible in 2004 and passed over. But they're still listed in these prelims.

Go through the CSB archives and look at all the 84 and 85 guys they list ...

The Q list is terrible, Bourdon shouldn't even be in the top 5! Latendresse should have been #3 (he's playing fine and staving off an injury) and Bourret should be ahead of Zagrapan. Denny #6? Give me a break!
My Q list

1.Sidney Crosby
2.Alex Bourrret
3.Guillaume Latendresse
4.Marek Zagrapan
5.JP Paquet
6.Mathieu Aubin
7.Luc Bourdon
8.Slava Truhno
9.Francis Charland
10.Francois Bolduc

If you could rank them would you have them on that list or would you expect
them to be selected later if at all.As you know I'm very high on LaVallee and I
know you said you were impressed with him but wanted to see if he could keep
it up.The big question is what the heck happened since last year.Did he grow?
Alot more icetime? Some times you can see a guys production go up crazy on the tails of star linemates.Thats not the case here. He's not playing with Hennessey
and Radulov on the first line. They mixed him up with just about every possible
formula other than those 2 and the interesting thing is he has the highest +/-
on the team and much higher than his other linemates. He even plays second
line on the power play.He skates well, has a very good shot, and can hit big time.

So ,here you have a guy that is now looking as good as many of last years draft
top round picks and you have a known entity.

Are there any situations like this in the OHL and WHL?

Matt Kassian over Tim Kraus is just shocking to me. Kassian is a 6'6'' goon that cant even skate where as Kraus is actually a talented player.
Agreed. I was absolutely stunned when I noticed that Kraus wasn't even on the top 25 list.

This just goes to show how much of a joke these lists are. I mean honestly, Latendresse #10 in the QMJHL, Levassuer #3 for goalies in the QMJHL, and Mikkleson in front of Durand in WHL. Yikes!!!!

I asked the same question at the WHL board:

Do these scouts even get paid?
