Champions coming up soon. India and Australia the favourites as always?

England will have the advantage on home pitches too.

Fair enough.

Pakistan releases Umar Akmal for being too fat (even by Pakistani cricketer standards!) and bring in Haris Sohail. May actually get to see Babar and Haris bat together!

Pakistan chased 342 in the warm up against Bangladesh after being down 242-8 in like 42nd over. Practice match, but still impressive.

Chandra pls...

There are 3 guys that I never want to see playing for Pakistan in ODIs again: Azhar Ali, Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez. There's a glut of talent just WAITING to come up. Ugh.

Don't think that's going to be to their advantage much. No way are they going to prepare swinging/seaming wickets for a one-day tournament the way the do for home Test Matches.

Pitches will help the quicks more than the spinners sure but not anything like as much as normal in England.

Damn. BD got chased pretty easily. No result in NZ/AUS. SL will win this one easily, methinks.

I can't imagine how frustrating it must've been for Pakistani fans to watch that batting display today. Their batsmen are just so uninspiring and lacking any killer instinct at this point.

India didn't even play that great to be honest, but they easily cruised to a victory. Kohli battled through some confidence issue to finish strong. Yuvraj shows time and time again that he is not be to be underestimated and that he is a match winner. Rohit played a lot of dot balls but at least he hung in there. Jadeja is a legit triple threat with his batting, bowling, and fielding and he's playing with so much swagger.

The Indian fielding has to be way better if they hope to beat South Africa though.

It is extremely frustrating. Even more frustrating than Yuvraj being dropped in his 20s and then Kohli being dropped before his half century. Just ridiculous. I could rant for days about the follies of the Pakistani team but here are the main points:

  • Shehzad and Azhar Ali shouldn't be on this squad. Tuk tuk cricket is dead.
  • Babar has hit a bad spell at the most inopportune time but youngsters are what this team needs. I'd rather see the boys fail with a bunch of gems in their early 20s than be stuck with BCs who can't or won't adapt to modern ODIs.
  • Wahab Riaz needs to be expelled from this team as soon as possible. He hasn't been good in years.
  • The PCB refusing to bring in new talent when there is a plethora of talent just waiting for a chance. Why the hell wasn't Fahim Ashraf brought in after his match winning effort against BD? Ridiculous.
  • The horrendous fielding, my gosh.

Australia benefited from the rainout against NZ and got screwed today. Probably where they deserve to be right now with 2 points.

Australia and New Zealand both out.

England and Bangladesh advance.

South Africa vs India tomorrow, which will basically be a knockout match.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka should be a hell a match as well.

This tournament is shaping up to be quite exciting now, isn't it?

As exciting as a rain-destroyed tournament can be.

Winner of SA vs IND goes on and winner of PAK vs SL goes on?
