Their one household gathering really makes me feel like they're completely disconnected with reality. Who the hell is even respecting that anymore? Just go to a park on weekends...it ain't two households.

They are slow with undoing restrictions because it just takes one antivax/conspiracy nut job to cause a huge outbreak (like that gym owner). Most people will be careful and respectful but it just takes one idiot to ruin it for the rest of us.

Meh..that antivax nutjob isn't isn't one respecting measures. He's probably doing whatever he wants already. So I don't see how allowing 4 friends instead of 2 for outdoor gatherings is gonna change anything. Again, this is already happening.

Seems like southshore is going Orange as well.
Overall, we are opening up gradually but it seems like it will ramp up pretty fast.
Yellow in July means opening of bars and the casino! Back to work soon finally. Savings account was slowly getting depleted lol

It was predictable, they are going for the 3 weeks window
yeah, they want the 75pcent threshold. It's probably the deal Legault got with Santé Publique.

I'm happy it is finally happening. Folks on this forum will finally rejoice and stop the bickering, as this thread has turned into a fist fight instead of being an informative and 'mood-feeling' oriented one (which was the case at the beginning). Like many thread on this forum!

We just got it today so they add 2-3 weeks on it that's my understanding, by then we will be a 80% + likely, I could argu that everything should be opened

Quite impressive to see, I think we land anywhere between 85 and 90% at this rate. And if there are no delays in vaccine shipment, full return to normal could be by September 1st (Clubs, large crowded events, ect) but definitely by October 1st.

It will slow down IMO with those announcements

Quebec, Ontario, BC and Sask have done a great job at getting their populations vaccinated.

Even Ontario with an incompetent Premier like Ford is getting it done.

I mean, I agree. But from the government's perspective, I think they prefer to keep the more relaxed measures in area they can monitor and control better.

It sounds crazy to open the Bell Center but that's just one place, they can contact trace, they can enforce the rules. It's a lot more controlled than having a free for all in people's houses. That's the last step in reopening, has to be. They'll only do it when they're ready to open up again completely.

Absolutely. The rules need to be made for people who follow them, and 3 or 4 househoulds gathering should be a thing.

Nutjobs don't care if it's 2 or 4, they'll do 20.

Given the torture of the last year it's not surprising that virtually everyone will jump at the chance to get vaccinated as soon as it's available. Why the f*** would you not want to return to normal life? It's insane.

Irresponsibility is a spectrum. Yeah the smooth brained psychos will do 20 regardless, but the danger is more like, the average person thinking that they are smarter than everyone else, so if 4 are allowed, why not 6? I'm responsible, 6 is no danger. And 7 is probably fine too. And so is 8, or 10, or 12.

Realistically, if they tell me I'm allowed to have 4 people over, I'm probably going to feel empowered enough to have at least a 10 person gathering in my yard. And you know what? Kids don't count, nobody includes them in these numbers. So it's more like 15.

... It's really, really stupid to allow for gathering on patios while prohibiting them in backyards.

Honestly I think it's a bad idea to lift the curfew. This all screams to me opening up way too soon due to vaccines. There's a reason there's a 2nd dose needed because the 1st one isn't good enough because there are question marks with regards to how effective it is for part of the time between the 1st and 2nd doses.

Also, if they're doing stadiums, just do it for Monday so there could be fans in the stands for Game 3

I mean more from a provincial organizational standpoint.

You still need the infrastructure and coordination. As incompetent as Ford has been (and he is a big f***ing doofus), Ontario still has their shit together. They've vaccinated almost 7 million people despite the cluster f*** caused by bad leadership.

The PM and Premiers have received so much flak, but on the aggregate, they've done a good job at the vaccine side.

Yeah, unfortunately for them, in most cases except Sask. and Québec, their approval ratings have been down the drain.
