Do you have brain damage? The only metric goalies have some control over is SV%. Are you telling me a .850 going winning 10 games in a row is better than a .950 goalie going 5-5 because he's on a worse team?

Either you're trolling or don't understand very basic logic.
Love how you resort to insults.
Says more about you than me.
This might shock you, they play on the same team

I been thinking the same thing. Just not enough room for all the D

Nurse Ceci
Kulak Barrie
Broberg Bouchard
Vinny Murray
Nemo

I think I would try Kulak + for a top 4 defensive D. Gavrikov would be a good one. They can have Murray for free as well.

Nurse Vinny
Gavrikov Ceci
Broberg Bouchard
Barrie as an PP specialist

Vinny might not be ready to play top pairing with Nurse night night out so option to change up.
Setting up a rookie for pressure like that... heh.. let Vinny grow.

7D is the way, and Id like to keep Kulak.

Pretty solid game from everyone.

Campbell Soup is heating up!

Desharnais is REALLY f***ing impressive. For his third game, he’s just so reliable defensively. Calm feet, calm hands.

Kostin is probably Holland’s best move ever, even better than drafting Lidstrom.
 I assume the bolded was a joke comment, without the emoji. Lidstrom being arguably a top 10 dman all time and a HOFer.

Honestly, I would trade for drouin. Forget edmundson.
Soft, doesn't PK, doesn't play center, low shot volume, low goal totals, expensive cap hit. That's not something we need.

He's a guy a rebuilding team might test out for a stretch. Can't see a playoff team wasting precious cap space on a guy with one dimension that doesn't seem overly valuable.

maybe, but at one point he wasn't! he was just some Swedish D-man everyone overlooked.
Maybe, but the posters point was this trade was better than that draft pick. If Klim turns into a consistent 50 goal scorer, has a 20 year career, wins 2 or 3 cups and gets into the hall, I'll reconsider my statement.;)

Montreal fans agree to Drouin retain to make cap hit equal to Puljujarvi's . But I have less faith in Drouin than I do in Puljujarvi. I watched him in Halifax and said years ago his game would not transition to the NHL.
I'd still like to see what Drouin could do here and if all it costs is Jesse then why not? Jesse isn't getting re-up'd at $3 million by the Oilers or Habs so his career here is pretty much over, so let's see if there's anything left in Drouin that we can use? If he sucks then don't re-sign the guy ! :dunno:

I think part of the reason fans are excited about Desharnais and Kostin is that they are overachieving expectations.

A welcome reprieve from the various underachievers we’ve had over the years and have currently.
You mean like Ennis, Brassard, Rieder and the like who are fairly productive still until they come here and suck, then go elsewhere and see to regain a bit of the form they lost here? I hear yuh loud and clear ! Annoying isn't it? Kostin was a great gamble because Samorukov was never going to play regular here because he was behind Broberg, Niemo and Vince D, who would have already had his shot a few months ago if it weren't for injury! Kostin really didn't cost the Oil anything of real value and if Kostin sucked then see yuh later, but look at him now! Even if he's over producing, you can see the skill in this guy that made him a potential high draft pick that fell to the bottom of the 1st round.

I have time for Drouin on a club still desperate for scoring help on wings. He's a lot better that Pulju/Yam/Foegele options. Guy doesn't play with good players and still puts up solid points. He has a lot of pressure on him playing where he does and I think moving to a non-francophone team would be a blessing for him.

12 points in 28 games is not solid for how much he's paid.

And hes not a goal scorer.

Maybe in the off season as a 1mill guy but even at 50%, he is overpaid.

Not a single goal this year. 15 goals in his last 90 something games

Drouin is finished, like right side of the bell curve, finished. I wouldn’t waste time on him.

To the bolded, not sure where those “solid points” have been the past 3-4 years. JPs stats are no different (actually JP is better) the past 2+ current seasons, 55 pts for JD to 71 for JP And we can agree that JP isn‘t an option neither.

like Nancy Reagan said, just say no.

What's the deal with Yamamoto these days? Flu, or something...?

So many things improved in the past few games. I think the thread has well covered them. The two most exciting things for me are:
-- The team is starting to play at puck-drop at 0:00 instead of mid-way through the 2nd period.
-- Janmark, Kostin, Nuge. Holy crap is this a great line! Nuge obviously benefits from having two sandpaper, tough-ish guys to play with, and a potent third-line means Woody can mix-up McDavid and Drai with whomever.

Keep the 11-7 going! It's allowing Broberg and Bouchard to play a bit less, and not be over-exposed. It's also reducing Nurse's tendency to make "hero" plays that backfire.

Desjarnais indeed looks like just what the doctor ordered (i.e., right-D, defence-first, big and strong, no 'dumb' plays yet).

So, everything is looking good, but I can't get too excited after three wins with two against non-playoff teams (one basically an AHL club... whom the Oilers recently lost to). Still, many positive signs and the Vegas win is of course huge. (Few things in life give me pleasure like seeing Jack "I-love-myself" Eichel losing, getting no points, and going -3.)

Now if only the Oilers could figure out how to win a game on home ice...

Drouin is more of an off-season, 1 year, league minimum signing.
