I think the Leafs sign Pateryn as a UFA. Considering how low key he is, he has some pretty nice defensive numbers and was deployed as a defensive shutdown guy. He's a RD and in his prime so he brings a good mix of experience and ability. He should be pretty cheap as well so it is an option to address the 2nd pairing RD with a defensive guy. Allows Hainsey to be pushed down to bottom pairing RD and PK specialist. If Zaitsev rebounds the right side looks way better.

I just don't see a huge splash coming there. I think they will hold their cards, make an offer on Tavares, sign a few depth guys, and see how another year of development looks and what the big three's contracts will be before they decide to move anyone in a blockbuster type deal.
