Why would Hertl need to surpass them when he was drafted in 2012?

At this point, I chose them because they are young, marginal franchise players. MacKinnon was probably a better choice for illustration being closer in age. It gives a benchmark. I don't want to get into all of the Couture debate of a couple of years ago about how he was a bonafide 1c or possible franchise player.

It's like the skating debates where at this point when someone says a particular Shark is fast, I will start listing the players who are faster. I like precise language. I don't want average to mean slow, I want average to mean average, fast means fast and slow means slow (and not just Handzus and Pavs slow).
