Shows how much we adore Miller that there wasn't even a Player Discussion thread for him.

What do you think we can expect to acquire for him at the TDL?

Veteran right-shot d-men are coveted by playoff teams, even a guy like Miller. Would a 2nd be hopelessly optimistic?

The only thing out there I think is the old acquisition thread - Confirmed with Link: - Sabres acquire Colin Miller from VGK for STL's 2nd round pick in 2021 and a 5th round pick in 2022

He could probably get a 2nd. That said if I were a contending team’s GM I wouldn’t want to add him.

You're giving far too much faith in fellow GM's. If he continues to stay on the ice I imagine a higher-end pick is on the table. He'd be a fine 15 minute specialist elsewhere. He's okay when it's within the opponent's zone.

I didn't think a 1st is out of the question. A RHD with playoff experience, can eat some minutes and adds offense from the back end, especially if they retain salary. You guys are a tough crowd sometimes. Maybe setting the bar low helps when disappointment arises.

The on,y was I see them getting a 1st is if it’s conditional on the 2nd becoming a 1st based on playoffs.

2nd rounder, just don’t let the other GM see him shoot from the point (75% chance of going directly into a shin pad)

It was funny looking back at the initial reactions to that trade. Butterhole was actually getting positive remarks. Looking at the player we got from how he's played here, a 2nd and 5th were way too much. I guess he got benched in Vegas for a reason

I do think he'll generate some interest at the TDL. While I think a 2nd with 50%retention is possible, I think that for a rental - a 3rd with 50% retention is more likely.

It seems to me the kind of deal using Miller that would get a first would really be a pick upgrade swap. Like Miller with 50% retained to swap our 3rd or 4th for a late round 1st from a playoff team. If you are adding to pick total then a 1st seems like a stretch.

Too bad. I liked the trade when we got him, and thought he was a better player than he actually is. We are starved for right shot D, and it's just weird that we will be pushing him out the door soon.

In ways, it's akin to the Scandella and Montour acquisitions - in the moment it may look good but the reality of their play (and the issues of the team) left all three as disappointing in their time in Buffalo.
