You don't think there is anything wrong with using wrong demonym to refer to a group of people?
No because Indian isn't a wrong demonym considering it has been used for 300+ years. It's cowboys and Indians --- do you not know who explicitly who I mean or are you stupid enough to think I'm talking about some ranching Sikhs?

The US Government still uses the term "American Indian" in its official documentation to this very day so, looks like you're wrong again.

Lmao I'm all for anti-political correctness but let's be honest we can't use the term Indians anymore to refer to Native Americans

That term is already used for people from India

Indian Restaurant. Indian buffet. They serve tandoori chicken there. It's them. Not the Native Americans.

So when are the Boston Celtics changing their name? Or the Fighting Irish? Or the Montreal Canadians.

I hope the woke inherit the earth honestly. The more weak p***yes the better for me personally.

And that makes it right? Dumb.

If white people find them offensive and want to change it, they can go right ahead.

I guess my history is not so good, what's wrong with Celtics, Fighting Irish and Canadians, guess you dont mean Canadiens?

These are racist names?

no, they're not
Neither are Cheifs, Braves, or Blackhawks. But people want those names changed for who knows what ridiculous logic.

News Flash: naming a team honorably in tribute to people, warriors, and leaders is NOT offensive.

I wonder when they will change the Dallas Cowboys name, because it stereotypes white people (especially white people from the South).

I feel offended ( :sarcasm: ), so they should change the name.

Yay for cancel culture! smdh
Indians is a great name and was a compliment when you think about it.
As for Chief Wahoo, it was an awesome logo and was very popular among natives all around NA.
Logos in baseball tend to be cartoony it's just the style, uniforms are usually pretty bland and well "uniform" so the logos were often cartoony. It was never meant to be offensive and I find it very dangerous how the culture of today is eliminating the past on things they don't agree with.
You know who does that? I won't say for fear of reprisal but... you know!

Literally every generation of every culture, ever, because people by their very nature eliminate things that they don’t agree with.

What you’re seeing is a sudden surge in the number of people who strongly disagree with something you don’t disagree with.

OK take: Guardians is a terrible name

Awful take: *any comparison to names like Celtics or Canadiens.

Cleveland’s old name is considered derogatory to many Indigenous Americans right now. Other names like “Celtics” or “Knights” are derogatory to exactly zero people on this planet. Stupid comparison borne out of ignorance.

So when are the Boston Celtics changing their name? Or the Fighting Irish? Or the Montreal Canadians.

I hope the woke inherit the earth honestly. The more weak p***yes the better for me personally.
You’re the one whining about the name change, have you considered that you might be the kitty cat instead?

Yeah totally, "honoring" people while committing genocide against them.

"Braves" was a derogatory word used for Indigenous peoples by settlers during the process of dispossession and ethnic cleansing of lands.

Cleveland changing the team name doesn't make me upset one way or the other, but Guardians is very meh.

Shoulda gone with Spiders. Merch would have been fantastic.

You’re half right. A lot of natives do find “Indians” offensive. A lot also don’t. There was more that found the Chief Wahoo logo offensive than the team name. Once that changed to the C or the italicized I logo, that died down.

But whatever. This is all lip service anyway.
