Ahh yes the NHL of the 90's where everybody was 6'5" and 240lbs, they were real men, everybody was a fighter, and players ritually cut their palm on their skates and poured out blood on the ice to appease the gods of violence. And where no middle sized, skilled forward was ever able to survive and defile the eyes of a certain cement headed brand of HF board user that longs for those days.

That was the 1970s. I was there.
They weren't giants, but they were crazy as loons.
Face shields? We don't need no stinkin' face shields!

Can someone crunch the numbers on a Weight Adjusted for Era?

Will this work?

Yeah, I bet the 3 pound deviation between now and 1997 would just be totally crippling to Giroux, not to mention the 1/10th of an inch difference in height.

Actually, it's 1.2 inches and about 15 lbs difference between 1975 and 2015.
Read the table below the charts.

What is interesting is the 5 lb decline over the last decade, which probably reflects rule changes that put a bigger premium on speed.

I can only presume the first sentence isn't directed at me since I'm addressing the notion that Giroux wouldn't stand a chance in the Lindros Era, not the Clarke era.

I'm agnostic about the Lindros era, I grew up watching the Broad Street Bullies, and partied downtown both years. I was out of town during the Lindros era, so I didn't get to watch the Flyers very often in those days.
