Is there anywhere to watch great full wings games while the season and all sports are on shutdown?
Amazon, theres like 8 different NHL 'series' that have multiple seasons of historic and epic games. A lot of Wings hockey in there, both good and bad. I really enjoy watching the original broadcasts. They only cost $1.99 each too.

More interested in all playoff-series/runs Wings didn't win.

Like 1995, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007...

Always pops up how great Yzerman was on those series, but the team depth didn't help enough the Captain.

And when we win, it's usually the insane team depth that beats the opposite team.
We lost in '93 to Toronto because Ciccarelli took a shift off. He was trying to cherry pick while Toronto had the puck in our zone and just watched them setup 5v4 and cycle until they scored. He didn't even coast around, just stood still and watched.

Lots of reasons DRW didn't win the cup for so many years and Dino is one of them. Some guys are simply not cup champions.

Watching Holmstrom make that falling tip in game 7 of the 2002 WCF made me want to check his playoff stats.

The guy scored 19 points in 22 playoff games in 1998. That is incredible. One point behind Fedorov and five behind MVP winner Yzerman. For a career .5 ppg player.

Holmstrom might be one of my favorite players in Red Wings history.

When you get a nickname, specially his nickname, the demolition man, then you are doing something real good. His battles were historic.

NHL is now putting up classic games on YouTube each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8PM ET. There's bound to be a Wings game added. Releases thus far:

Bruins @ Habs 5/10/79 Game 7 Semi-Final

Nordiques @ Habs 4/20/1984 Game 6 Quarter-Final (famous brawl)

Flames @ Rangers 11/6/95 Messier's 500th goal

Great call. I just spent some time browsing the options. Fight Night is on NHL Greatest Rivalries Series 5 for $1.99 for those interested. Luckily, I have it on DVD. A nice selection of games on Prime.

Honestly I'd suggest that overtime game from 95 vs Chicago that sent them to finals. Belfour made like 70 saves. Was that a 5 game series? Little fuzzy.

Back when ESPN still had some rights to NHL games they actually showed that game on ESPN Classic more than a decade ago. I made sure to tape it on VHS as I was still in middle school and didn't recall ever seeing that game. It's crap quality but I still have it after transferring it to DVD.

For those of you that have Fox Sports Detroit they will be rebroadcasting classic Tigers/ Red Wings/Pistons games starting tomorrow I believe with the 1997 Stanley Cup Finals. Which has me excited as they will be showing game 3. That game has been posted on You Tube but never in english for some reason.

Other than that there are tons of Red Wings games on You Tube. Add an ad blocker if needed to reduce ads and you'll be good. Seeing as I have a bit more free time, I'll compile a list shortly.

Checking out Awood40, as already mentioned, on You Tube is another option for more clip based, obscure stuff.

Red wings are on NBC right now. 08 game 6 vs pens

I watched 08. They are airing 09 now but I'm not sure I have the heart to watch that one.

Going back and watching those teams, the puck control was incredible. The entire 3rd period for the Penguins in that 08 game they couldn't setup in the Wings zone and never had the puck. Everytime #13 was anywhere near the puck he got it on his stick. So many turnovers.

And watching Zetterberg find ways to the net with the puck over and over. So good.

Yzerman and Lidstrom didn't look so hot on that Borchevsky goal. Who else was out there? Dallas Drake? Shawn Burr took the faceoff.

I have trouble watching that game considering some of the crap the officials let Pittsburgh get away with in the dying moments of the game.

Lilja having his stick knocked out of his hands leading to the Penguins second goal was a joke. Then they followed it up with a clear trip on Datsyuk as he was skating virtually uncontested at an empty net, leading to the last second chance by Hossa. The game should never have gotten to that point, and the fact the refs (not purposefully) artificially made it a close game as if the Penguins weren't being outclassed the whole game.

Speaking of the NHL being completely ambivalent towards the Red Wings, one of the classic games they posted on NHL.com was Preds/Wings game 4 in 2008. A game which Hasek was pulled early, the Red Wings lost somewhat close, and not even Preds fans likely care about. Also I don't even think the game has sound. What exactly are they trying to market, here?

Oh for sure. The Penguins didn't even get close to the net until they had the 6 on 4 in the final minutes.

Game 2 of the 1998 SCF is on FSD right now.

What makes this unique however is that they are using the international feed with Dave Strader and Mickey Redmond. Kind of hope they do the same for game 4 of the 1997 SCF as well.

I love that I DVR'd that series.

Also was the quality this brutal?

Wings were finally graced with a NHL Classics upload last week but NHL chose a Frankenstein presentation blending the CBC announcers with a bizarre camera feed.
