This is another solid move by Chiarelli. Wideman has pretty good underlying numbers and provides some offensive/ puck moving ability

Not sure if hell be an improvement over Benning though, and hell get eaten alive by Edmonton fans. Hes a similar player to Benning (makes some noticeable gaffs, but numerous smaller good plays)

Took Hitch one game and one practice to see Benning is not capable of being an NHL defenceman. Watching him default to flipping pucks meaninglessly into the air when there are wide open options got a bit annoying.

He probably also saw Klefbom is incapable of playing on the PP as well this afternoon. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Wideman on our #1 PP and bottom pairing to start the game tomorrow. Cya Benning.

I don’t mind this. I wanted to pick him up as a UFA for the 6/7 job. We signed Gravel, which is also okay.
