Interesting digging through the statistics. If you eliminate 2nd assists Zacha and Spears season looks quite a bit better compared to competition. Sure many of those minutes maybe PK, especially in Crouse's case but for whatever reason Zacha didn't get elite ice time last season.

McDavid - 94 points in 47 games 27.5 min
Marner - 97 points in 63 games 25.5 min
Strome - 96 points in 68 games 24 min
Konecny - 56 points in 60 games 24 min
Spears - 54 points in 57 games 18.5 min
Crouse - 39 points in 56 games 25.6 min
Zacha - 28 points in 37 games 17.5 min
Barzal - 38 points in 44 games 29.5 min

Interesting, not a huge fan of their methodology though.

They basically estimate ice time by looking at how many goals a player was in the ice for/against. So a guy like MacKinnon, who likely scores at a ridiculous per 60 rate, will have way too high of an ice time estimate.

So the reason Zacha's ice time is low is because his on ice goal production was low.

Whatever is going on with Gavrus, I hope this is his last season playing in Europe. I know he doesn't want to come back to NA until he feels he is ready for the NHL, but I feel like at some point we need to see what we have in this guy in a league where we have some control over his usage.

Whatever methodology he uses is extremely accurate. he has consulted many CHL teams to see if the numbers are accurate and almost every team has said that they are.

TG reports that JQ is the only Devils prospect attending the 2015 NHLPA Rookie Showcase in Toronto. Kind of odd that he and not Zacha is the one going.

Link: http://fireandice.northjersey.com/fire-ice-1.174987/devils-prospect-john-quenneville-to-attend-2015-nhlpa-rookie-showcase-in-toronto-1.1394741

Could just be a scheduling thing. Not sure if Zacha is currently in the Czech Republic, but it might be inconvenient for him to come over just for this. Quenneville is in Edmonton, so that is an easier flight. No Provorov, Rantanen, Meier, Crouse, Zboril, Barzal, etc.

(In the case of Barzal, I know that Seattle is playing in a Labor Day preseason tournament a couple days after the Upper Deck event. So that might explain why he's not there. Noah Juulsen, Brandon Carlo, and Paul Bittner are among other guys probably playing in that tournament.)

Pretty sure he is in the Czech Republic right now so would make sense he won't be here until camp starts.

Per TG's article after Zacha signed:

"Zacha will spend the remainder of his summer working out in Laguna Beach, Calif. with some other players there before reporting to New Jersey for his training camp physical, along with the rest of the team's rookies, on Sept. 10. Because his contract was not done and he did not want to risk injury, Zacha opted not to participate in the Czech Republic world junior team's evaluation camp last week."

Good catch, one of his Instagram photos from earlier this month featured him working out with a couple other guys. One of which seemed to be wearing an Arizona State hockey hoodie. Seeing ASU gear in California makes a lot more sense than if Zacha had been elsewhere in the world.

Ahh, most likely explains why he isn't going to the prospect thing. He just wants to get to camp healthy

I'm going to assume the entry level deal thing they also used for the prospects camp will apply here. Doubt Matteau is there honestly.

Probably will be a goalie invite and a couple of extra forwards, but aside from that, it's pretty spot on.

Yes, only players on ELC or eligible for ELC can participate.
Are you sure? I have heard there are also limit on the numbers of games play in the NHL by analogy with the Calder Trophy. If so,then Boucher is not available to participate.
