Aw yeah, baby. Bring on the regular season goodness.

Actually happy that the Hawks aren't playing on opening day of the season, as that gives me a day of NHL hockey to just enjoy as a neutral fan to help set me up.

Dallas more potent on offense this year..Hawks lose 4-3 in a shoot-out.. No points fir Pretty Boy,the Cap'n, or old man Hossa..2 pts for Kane. ..Hawks goals by Kane,Seabrook and Shaw...Shoot-out winner GIG by Hemsky...Hawks lead 3-2 mid third then CC lets in softer or deflection to send to OT..no scoring in OT...hence shoot-out whence CC fails again as our vaunted stars Toes Kane and Sharp all miss on their shoot-out chances.. Ces't la vie.

If Carcillo and/or Mashinter are in the lineup, Ill be pissed if they dont give Roussel some special attention.

Mashinter was a goner (waived) as soon as they signed Carbomb. The only reason it hasn't happened yet is because he's injured.

They haven't waived Mashinter yet. They had to by today because they have to be cap compliant by 5 pm Tuesday. Right now the roster is this:

They're going to have to trade or LTIR people (or sent TVR down) because right now we have 24 players and are over by $610k.

Starting to look like Shaw is going to start between Saad and Kane while Richards starts between Bickell and Versteeg.

It's Q, and it's the first game of the season, so lines mean basically nothing. But still...ugh.

Why ugh? Shaw is dynamite with Kane every single time they play together. Shaw is the type of center that Kane needs.

They can't waive him because he's injured. Surely, there's an out for this. And don't call me Shirley.

I think it will be apparent quickly that it's not a great solution, so hopefully Q will abandon it.

They can put him on LTIR. However, if they're keeping TVR then they're still over the cap.

No doubt Shaw can get it done with Kane. His strategy is a reliable classic. Give Kane the puck, get in front of the net, and just let the magic happen.

But I was looking forward to seeing Kane play with a center that's actually offensively gifted. That ain't Shaw.

You have much more faith in Q than I do.

I wouldn't say Shaw is the type of center Kane needs. They work well enough together but I was looking forward to at least seeing Kane play with someone... better.

Plus, Bickell-Richards-Versteeg just sounds kind of terrible.
