I wouldn't give a 1st round pick for Gustaffson. Really don't think he has that value, considering his career path, contract and the position of the MTL Canadiens.

Gus is better than Franson was at his best, offensively. Far more skill.

Gus is essentially a Jake Gardiner doppleganger. Lots of skill, makes some defensive brainfarts though. I'd rather give him another year and see where he is at this time next year.

I think he can be a solid 2nd pair D who can QB a PP going forward

Not a chance by the Habs. We'll offer you a 2nd and Hudon at best. Take it or leave it. It makes no difference to us.

I think Bowman would probably leave it. If it makes no difference to you, why even offer anything?

Gus is a gamble, but one that could really rejuvenate a team's offense on the back end if it works out. IMO, I'm okay with keeping Gus for that very reason.

But seeing how the hawks are in sell-mode, it's worth considering what he'd return.
