Just today Bowman was quoted in the Athletic Chicago about not being really preoccupied by Schmaltz's looming RFA status. Guess we know why.

I think Arizona wins this trade unless one of the other pieces is significant. Strome is nothing special and a possible bust while Schmaltz is at least a solid 2nd liner going forward.

First reaction is that I'm fine with it. Would have liked a more established guy back, but I'll wait to see the whole deal. Schmaltz just didn't adapt from a pure playmaker as they wanted.

Chicago trading Schmaltz because of a poor 20 games seems incredibly dumb to me, especially when the primary piece of the return is Strome. Just seems really, really dumb.

It's a hell of a trade for Arizona if it ends up happening, what a steal for them.

Should not be. They are well under the cap now and Schmaltz wasn't going to break the bank this summer.

Oh Perlini is in there. Much better for CHI then. Yotes clearing out all their former 1st rounders.

That makes the deal dramatically better for Chicago, Perlini is the centerpiece of the trade if he's being involved in the swap. Perlini being included makes it a hell of a lot better than if Strome was the centerpiece.
